iOS users commonly experiencing API error with error code "-11004"
Hello,
We have a problem with our iOS app, which is using the built-in iOS 7 (and above) dropbox app extension to import dropbox files into the app. Randomly many users get the following (which is a error relayed from the dropbox API):
"The operation couldn't be completed. (dropbox.com error -11004.)"
Any ideas if the dropbox developers are aware of this ongoing problem? Also, is there something the app can do to mitigate it?
Best,
Håkan W

Are you using our Core SDK or are you using iOS's built in document picker?

Hi Eric,
It's with the built in document picker when you have the app installed.

It sounds like it may be a networking error — have you been able to duplicate the issue?
- Håkan W.11 years agoNew member | Level 1
We haven't been able to reproduce it reliably on any specific networking conncetion (be it really bad EDGE/2G or fast wifi) however for some users it seems to occur almost always.
We can't see the pattern yet... do you guys know if the ios dev team has heard about this? Surely our app can't be the only one experiencing it, since it's a system-wide thing. However we rely on Dropbox for file imports, so it's quite bad user experience.

For the record, I'm developer of Opinion for iOS, a podcasting app where you can import audio clips from Dropbox to use. This is the feature that some users have now recently started reporting is failing.

Hi Bruce,
That's great to hear!! We've been looking at ways to workaround it but can't reliably reproduce it. It really seems kind of random from our end.
Please keep us posted on how it's going. Either here, or on twitter @OpinionPod.
Thanks a lot!

I have the same problem with one powerpoint. Trying to download one pptx file gave me the error -11004 code. Although another pptx did download effortlessly.
