Choose location for "Save to my Dropbox"

Choose location for "Save to my Dropbox"

When you get a shared liked and you want to save the file to your own dropbox, there is the options "Direct Download" and "Save to my Dropbox". It would be nice to have the possibility to choose the location, where to save the file exactly. Instead of moving it later from the home directory into the exact folder.

Hey @FesT, that’s a great idea- thanks a lot for sharing! :unicorn: I’ve moved your comment to the Share an Idea section, so as to give it a small push, since other users may be interested in the same functionality & they could also upvote :ballot_box_with_ballot: this feature implementation.

I totally support this. I have just spent an hour searching for this exact issue.

I have quite a number of folders in Dropbox and I often buy products where the supplier provides the files in separate Dropbox folders. Today I have just saved 14 files. I have had to drag and drop each file from Home to the main folder and then again to a sub-folder. This is extremely inefficient and with the next product I chose to do a Direct Download as I could select one folder on my hard drive to save them to. I can then want to upload to Dropbox it uses up my internet allowance.

So this would save a considerable amount of time and encourage me to use Dropbox more.

Yes please! Right now it's faster for me to download a file and then quickly shove it into the right folder locally and then let it upload slowly, than trying to save to dropbox and from the root navigate the move dialog for each item.

I support this idea! it would be great to modify the primary save location

Agreed. This is so frustrating if you are on your phone and need to move it to a shared folder others can access.

I'm another user who regularly had to download a file and then save it manually to my Dropbox to avoid having a mess of files dumped in the root directory.

I would go as far as to call the current situation a bug or defect in Dropbox. It is the only real irritation I have experienced in many years as a user (if you discount the nagging marketing prompts for Smart Sync!)

Can't believe this is not possible yet. Imagine having to do this with 100 folders.
