Our company uses Dropbox for Business. Currently our folder structure is Lawyers and then under that we have Amy, Brian, Chris, etc (the names of the lawyers). The under each lawyer we have dozens of different subfolders for the different cases. The other day an employee accidentally dragged Chris into Brian and it caused us to be down as thousands of files were moved and then we had to move them back and wait for everything to sync to everyone's computers. I'm wondering if we can limit this kind of damage by moving Amy, Brian, Chris, etc to the top level and then changing the setting Admin console, Settings, Content, Top-level content management from Everyone to Only Admins. Then they wouldn't be able to move Chris to Brian if they're not an admin. They would still be able to work as they are now and edit the subfolders and files, correct?1.3KViews0likes8CommentsHow do I see the email address that was used to submit a file?
How do I see the email that was used to submit the file? In the file link, they are asked to put their name+email. As part of the naming convention, I can see the name but I need access to the customer's email as well to send a follow-up..43Views0likes2CommentsI cannot manage team permissions while signed in as admin
Why can I not manage permissions while signed in as admin? It clearly says I am. And yet I can manage sharing permissions at all. Please help. I have screenshots, but I don't seem to be able to post them here. I can't give you much more info without those, other than I am not allowed to change permission settings like who has access to what folders, and I'm not able to share files or folders via email. This is the same from Chrome and the DB desktop app for Mac. -Ash252Views0likes6CommentsRestricting the Dropbox desktop app to permitted (company) devices
I have dropbox business for our office and am trying to limit access/installation to company-issued devices. We don't want our employees to install and sync company dropbox account onto their own personal devices due to security reasons. Quite simply, company files are one lost and unsecured computer / laptop away from being lost to the real world. Is there a way to do this?269Views0likes4CommentsExternal users prompted to join team when shared a file
Dirty practice from Dropbox to prompt a recipient of a shared file to be asked to join your team. This prompt confuses the recipient of the file who requests to join the team and therefore Dropbox gains another paid user. This user (from another company) if added to the team by an overworked I.T. dept who isn't paying attention, then gains access to the company files. Please re-work your prompt system and remove the option to request access to join the team. We can add members to the team from the admin console and this is the most secure way to do this. This fault is obviously a great way for Dropbox to gain 'accidental' paid users at the expense of security. I receive a few of these emails each month and each time it's just Dropbox testing my intelligence again to see if I will accidentally add a totally random person to access our company files by mistake. This is absolutely not secure file storage and is designed to be misleading. It is frustrating that Dropbox is actively phishing. Disabling the ability of a user to request to join a team (from outside your company) would resolve this. It is hard to imagine a scenario where you would want to add (and pay for) an external user to your team. If you did need this feature, it would be a deliberate action and the cost involved would need to be approved (an ongoing subscription - the worst kind of cost). Email requests from external users would of course be ignored and make no impact on the purchase of the license. The current short term fix i can suggest is just setting Dropbox emails to block/spam/autodelete. Thanks for reading this far.457Views0likes4CommentsI need assistance with accessing and managing my team account
Hi! I am trying to get my music organization/band to use dropbox more efficiently & effectively. I have an enterprise plan but it doesn't seem like there is anywhere in the user interface for me to create or manage teams. I wanted to add phone support so I could call dropbox but i don't even see that option in my Settings console. How can i talk to someone who can help me figure this out? I'm talking to chatGPT but none of the directions i'm getting are accurately reflected in my user interface options. I have had a personal account for a long time that has 5TB of storage, and then recently this year i upgraded to a TEAMs account through Rekordbox (DJ software) which gives me and additional 10.5TB of storage, and i attempted to merge the accounts. It seems tho, that my admin options are only reflecting my personal account and not my Teams/Enterprise account. I'm running in circles on the website and need assistance. Thank you in advance for any help or direction.733Views0likes8CommentsWe have no access to our Dropbox team admin account, and we're in locked state
We hired a third-party to create and run our dropbox account; however, we are no longer in contact with this person and have no way to ask for the login information. We received an email stating the account is in a locked state. We want to renew the subscription, but we cannot login to the account. We also want to remove this person from the account and they no longer work for us. Any suggestions?403Views0likes4CommentsIs it possible to discover and claim accounts that use corporate email addresses?

I'm trying find out how many of our employees have created "personal" drop box accounts using their business email address. Is it possible to discover and claim accounts using our domain email address if I sign up for a Dropbox "Team" account, or is there another tier that this is possible with?Solved1.4KViews0likes2CommentsWhen I try to edit a member's permission, I get error "a problem has occurred try again".
