10 TopicsCan we have a folder/list of links to our Dropbox files on Android?
It would be quite useful to be able to compile a folder or a document with a list of links to Dropbox files that are made available locally. Imagine a speech that needs a set of texts or images to be opened in sequence. Or a performance in which it is necessary to compile a list of scores that need to be accessed quickly without browsing. The interest in just links, and not copies, is to access the latest versions adjourned in Dropbox from any of the connected devices. This is clearly possible in Windows where a folder or a .docx document can be compiled with links to Dropbox files made available locally. In Android unfortunately this is not possible. Someone suggests to make copies of the files into the local space (not Dropbox) and link to that. But this would not allow the great feature of dynamic update on Dropbox files. I have tried on my tablet to compile a file with links, but when I browse to get the link to a Dropbox file, I go nowhere. I have enquired the Dropbox assistance team and they told me that this feature is not available in Android. I think that this would be a great addition. If anyone in the community has a suggestion I would much appreciate it. Best to all. PS: In serching for a solution someone suggests to insert a path like this to locally available cash: Andoid/data/com.dropbox.android/files/USERHASH/scratch/folder/file.tx but I do not have the USERHASH and the path may be wrong.178Views1like2CommentsViewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs.
Viewing my files in a chronological order- especially necessary for photographs. An example of the need for the photos that I put in a folder for a client is this- I photographed a construction site to capture existing conditions along a perimeter of a project. Itâs important that all the photos facing north be grouped together- one shot after another. If the client wants to follow along the walk and the conditions, it just doesnât make sense for the shots to be out of order. Not only that, it makes me look unorganized and unprofessional. Another example is taking photos of a goalie at at soccer game. Doesnât it seem logical that the shots would reflect the action of the ball and the player in the order that the ball is played? Having the shots in order is a necessity. Having to search and arrange myself takes extra time. I view this organizational tool as a priority. Thank you.174Views3likes6CommentsKeep original file names in camera uploads feature on mobiles
The idea is not to rely in manually uploading all the time. I want to keep my pictures backed up in case of phone loss or damage, but the names are important as I keep the media backups in multiple places and if the names don't coincide, reconciliation is a hassle. I often end up having to double upload and compare pictures manually so I can see if any of them are missing, and delete the ones with names altered by the Dropbox app. This feels like unnecessary work altogether.166Views2likes4CommentsThe Dropbox app should have a dedicated backups tab
I hope this message finds you well. I primarily utilize Dropbox to back up my laptop files and maintain a clone copy of my external drive. The service has been invaluable in ensuring the safety and accessibility of my data. I wanted to suggest a feature that I believe would greatly enhance the user experience: the addition of a dedicated tab within the Dropbox app to view backups. Currently, this functionality is only available through the web interface. Having direct access to my backups via the app would significantly improve convenience, allowing me to quickly verify and manage my files wherever I am. I believe this feature would be beneficial not only to me but also to many other users who rely on Dropbox for comprehensive file backups. Thank you for considering this suggestion. I appreciate the continuous improvements you make to Dropbox, and I look forward to seeing how the platform evolves. Best regards, Jesus E.164Views2likes6CommentsUse monospace font when visualizing txt files in the mobile app for Android
I find it very useful that the Android app has a built-in viewer and editor for txt files, but I really NEED the font to be monospaced because there are eg. tables and other manual alignments. The font is currently proportional, with no way to change it. I notice this has been requested before (but for the iOS app) with no clear resolution - https://www.dropboxforum.com/idea/101002013/dropbox-app-text-in-monospace-font-on-ios/310261 . Please use a monospaced font for txt files. Even on the www.dropbox.com web site, the built-in txt editor already uses a monospaced font.151Views3likes2CommentsScroll through photos in fullscreen mode on Android devices
Currently, it's not possible to scroll through photos smoothly in the app on Android devices. This limits usability, especially when browsing photo collections. I suggest implementing a swipe or scroll feature that allows users to navigate between photos seamlessly, simular to galleri apps. This would greatly improve the user experience for photographers and others who manage visual content in the Dropbox app. Thank you for considering this improvement.148Views4likes6CommentsAndroid App: Fullscreen mode / Presentation mode / Slideshow for viewing images
Hello, until a few years ago, there seems to have been a âfullscreen modeâ, âpresentation modeâ or âslideshow modeâ in the Android app. This allowed you to swipe through photos in a folder without leaving fullscreen mode. Current: 1. click on an image in the image overview 2. the image becomes large (in Dropbox, no other standard app linked) with header and footer (info, share button, etc..., see image below) 3. you click on the image again: Header and footer disappear 4. the current state is the desired one [Now you would expect to swipe to go to the next or previous image] 5. however, swiping only takes you back to the view mode from 2. with header and footer 6. only now does the swipe work However, I would like to present photos and videos in full-screen mode using the app. The cell phone is connected to the TV via WLAN screen share. Why has this feature been removed? MfG AndrĂ©134Views1like2CommentsDuplicate should only duplicate and not also move
In the Android app, when I duplicate a file, I usually want the copy to be in the same directory. However, the initial directory to save the copy is the root directory. Therefore, I have to tap many times to get back to the initial directory. This behavior is very similar to the behavior for the move feature. My idea suggestion is that the duplicate feature should only duplicate the file and not also include the move behavior. If I want to move the duplicated file, then I can do that after. Alternatively, the duplicate feature can include the move behavior but use the current directory as the initial directory.67Views1like1Comment
