Apple
6 TopicsI've set my iOS camera uploads to add only new photos, but it's trying to re-upload everything.
I went from a iPhone 11 to a iPhone 16 Pro a few months ago. I backed up photos to Dropbox before I moved everything to the new phone. Had issues with the new phone and Apple had me do a full factory reset, and then I was only able to download certain (minimal) apps from my cloud, to prevent the new phone from picking up anything old that might have caused the issues. This shouldn't affect my Dropbox app, since that is a separate cloud. But now when I back up photos, it is scanning my ENTIRE library of photos, which is many years worth, it seems, and it seems to want to download all of these photos, most of which are already in my Dropbox. I went to settings to see if selecting "Back up/New photos only" would solve this issue, but it only identifies new photos as of today, not the past couple of months since I got this phone. But then I looked at what's in my Camera Uploads folder, and there are photos from as recent as early December, but not current. With my old phone, Dropbox would only grab the new photos since last upload. So what am I doing wrong here?110Views0likes28CommentsReloading Apple photos from Dropbox folder
I had a major problem upgrading an iphone and bottom line lost all my UGC from 2020-2024 (corrupted back up). I have all the iphotos from that period in Dropbox. I want to put them back onto my phone. I tried synching them but what happened was they all went in with the current date and time and lost the meta data. Anyone have any idea how I get around this? It failed to recognize locations and dates.23Views0likes1CommentNo longer see syncing check marks on Mac when using the Dropbox desktop app
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. I was running dropbox on an older Mac with no problem. I recently purchased a new Mac M4 and migrated all of my files over to this Mac that is running Sequoia. I have the same files and programs that I did on my previous Mac. Dropbox no longer has the check mark status so I know everything is syncing or has synced. The files ARE syncing and they are current, just no status marks. I have re-started the Finder a number of times. I removed the Dropbox app and re-installed. Re-started the computer after a few times. No change in behavior. Is something conflicting with this app. Odd as I've added no new apps since moving to this Mac. Trying to sort it out. Thank you.Solved144Views1like18CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app gets stuck syncing for the team on MacOS
To clarify, dropbox works 95% of the time, so it's not a sync issue. But for me and my whole dropbox team, roughly once or twice a day, dropbox completely binds up. For example, I have double clicked to open a 6MB file and it's been 20min and still nothing. The icon at the top says syncing but the file never actually downloads and opens. when i hover mouse over the dropbox icon it says 'syncing' but no KB upload or download rate that it usually has when it's actually syncing. It's some sort of bug as again, dropbox works 95% of the time fore uploads and downloads, but then its just dies and you cant open anything for an hour until something happens and it randomly comes back online. I have tried pausing the sycn and starting again. I have tried restarting dropbox. no success. Maybe a restart of the computer. but geez it's frustrating.63Views0likes5CommentsCamera Uploads IOS 18 on iPad not working correctly
I have upgraded to iOS 18 on my iPad and updated the Dropbox app. I turned Camera Uploads on, with Upload from set to Camera Roll and Back up set to All Photos. Nothing is uploaded, even though my Camera Roll has over 16,000 photos. Uploading manually is not an option, as there is no Select All function. In addition, manual upload only allows 400 photos at a time. The new iOS 18 Photos app no longer has a folder named 'Camera Roll', so I'm wondering if that is the problem? I logged out of the Dropbox app and back in, which then took me through Set Up your Dropbox. The Upload Photos option seemed like it would work if I chose Imports, but again there is no Select All option. So I went back to the Camera Uploads settings and turned Camera Roll off, and Recently Saved (under Smart Folders) on. Same thing, nothing uploads. I'm stumped!123Views0likes5Comments
