Hi there, I've read before that dropbox and macs are not working as seamlessly as they used but all the posts are years old so I wanted to check if that is still a problem or we have a work around it? My major frustration is that the dropbox right click menu is all gone. So there is no way to copy links, share, etc.. from the finder window. I literally have to go to the web browser for that. This has become a daily struggle and I would like to know what the deal between dropbox and mac is, specially because it used to work before. Unfortunatelly, this issue migh push me into another cloud system if it's not fixable. Thank you.9Views0likes1CommentMac OS – files duplicated in Dropbox folder cannot be renamed or moved, just deleted.
To those Mac and Dropbox users still suffering this annoyance, there is a slightly easier way to resolve it than having to repeatedly quit the Dropbox app. In a Mac desktop window, click on the folder containing the duplicated file. Right click or ctrl click it. In the pop-up menu select 'Make available offline'. That resolves the issue for me for all files in that folder. It's as if Dropbox is unable to set the default for duplicated files on Mac to 'Available offline', even though that option is selected in 'Sync and storage'.27Views1like1CommentI can't back up files from my external drive to my Dropbox mobile app via the Files app.
I cannot for the life of me sync my Dropbox to my iPad Pro. This is the only device I use to sync to Dropbox (by connecting an external drive to iPad Pro), so that i keep everything safe. I have been doing this for some time (at least one year) so it’s not a new system, but it has suddenly stopped syncing for the past month. This was before I even updated to 26.2 so I now have 26.2.1 and no change. I have tried: Clearing dropbox cache deleting Dropbox app, restarting iPad Pro and re-installing Dropbox app deleting preview app restarting iPad Pro again deleting Dropbox from files “locations” and adding it back again Removing external drive and reconnecting it I can see files in Dropbox and can see drives in files and on my external drive, they’re just not the same since they don’t sync I have a tonnnnn of storage space on both devices (not even half full) and no other apps open so it is not from either of those causes either. It continues to have the exclamation with a circle around it and the bottom of screen says “syncing with Dropbox paused” Any help you have figured out would be greatly appreciated!84Views0likes4CommentsProblem linking my Apple Music library on my old Mac to my new one.
All my Music files (incl. iTunes) are located: - on my old MacBook Pro (MacOS Monterey 12.7.6): Macintosh HD>Users>myname>Dropbox>My Mac>Music. - on my new MacBook Air (MacOS Tahoe 26.2): Macintosh HD>Users>myname>Music. I need to find a way to let my new machine access the Music>iTunes folder from my old Mac in Dropbox. Is that possible? The "My Mac" folder on my old machine is 'invisible' in Dropbox, if you see what I mean. I have already copied the old MusicLibrary file from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air but, of course, the library can't find any of the music tracks which are still located in the Dropbox on the old machine. Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. FYI, I do not have an Apple Music subscription. Dropbox Plan Level 1..? Device M1 iMac Operating System/Browser (if using the web) MacOS Tahoe Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6305 Question or Issue I attempted to copy the contents of my local Dropbox folder and paste them into another folder. My Dropbox folder remains intact. The files in the folder are available off line and online. I no longer needed the files to be copied and tried to delete the destination folder. When I did I got the following message. I think the issue may be related to the fact that the files are in some Dropbox database. Does anyone know how I can either end what ever process is running or down load the files so I can delete them? Thanks!150Views1like8CommentsApps create conflicted recursive copies of their contents filling my drive
Application Affected Dropbox Device Various Macs Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS Tahoe 26.2 and various Macs on lower versions Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Question or Issue For the second time now, I've found a file in a Dropbox folder that recursively keeps adding conflicted copies of itself in the app package. See a sample below of a partial transcript of my deletion attempt in macOS terminal: Amazon Kindle.app/Contents/PlugIns/SendToKindle (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-09) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-10) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-15) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-16) (David Kaplan' ( (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-19).appex Amazon Kindle.app/Contents/PlugIns/SendToKindle (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-07) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-11) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-12 1) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-16 1) (David Ka (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-19 15).appex Amazon Kindle.app/Contents/PlugIns/SendToKindle (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-07 2) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-08) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-09 1) (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-11) (David Kaplan (David Kaplan's conflicted copy 2025-12-13).appex There were hundreds or thousands of these (I have no idea, but I'm getting disk warnings that my drive is getting full). These were consecutive in the terminal session I use to recursively delete the sub programs... Even more interesting the two times this has happened, the files were in a data folder, not in a folder I would use for executing them. Being that this is on Dropbox, I've had to stop syncing on my 6 Macs, delete the files before I can turn syncing on again. At the moment a deletion attempt is still running after deleting over 165,000 items in that file. When this file creation happens it really slows down my computer. Also stranger, is that I don't have a "Amazon Kindle.app" in my Applications folder. I use a "Kindle.app" The first time this happened it was with a completely different program, not Kindle. What more info can I provide?72Views0likes2CommentsI downloaded my iCloud photos as a .zip file, and need to save the content to Dropbox.
