57 TopicsHow to I effectively and ultimately unsync a folder
Hi, I accidentally sync a folder that makes my dropbox full. Now I need to unsync it following these steps: Open yourDropboxdesktop app preferences. Click theSynctab. Under SelectiveSync, click SelectiveSync… (as I use Windows). Check thefoldersyou'd like saved on your hard drive. Uncheck thefoldersyou'd like removed. Click Update. However, the unwanted folder keeps appearing and syncing many times! Anyone who could help! In regards to having to open up a browser on my mobile phone to be able to view any files that are in the "Backups" section of dropbox.. This has made things very troublesome by not allowing everything to be read via the normal dropbox mobile app. I understand the principle of having the major "backups" be in a different segment of dropbox.. but it shouldnt be that hard to access all the files. Maybe inside the regular current Dropbox app, feature a button that allows you to actually open the files that are in this "backups" section? OR maybe create another "Dropbox Backups" app that will allow us to remotely view these backup files without having to go thru the hassle of opening up a browser on the phone and try and track things down? If I search for a file from within the dropbox app, that is located in the "backups" portion... it will show up, but wont allow you to view it. Just throws an error, with no mention of having to actually access it via a browser even. It wont even allow you to go into the file info to be able to see exactly where its located or if it IS located in the "backups" portion. Its just tedious and a pain. There has to be an easier way.817Views1like3CommentsUpdate asks me to disable Dropbox Backup & wants to download files locally.
I'm literally so confused because Dropbox all of a sudden wants me to update Dropbox Backup and prompted me to disable backup in order to update and then proceed to try to download OVER 1TB of data onto my 512 GB Macbook. Why in the WORLD do I need to disable backup in order to update. Maybe I'm not understanding properly, but the entire reason why I use Dropbox is so that I can use my computer since I have files that take up a lot of space. Is there any workaround for this? Now im concerned that my backup files have been deleted from dropbox .......2.3KViews1like6CommentsWhy can I only back up specific folders?
I just started using the back up feature in Dropbox but it seems to only back up 3 folders: DOWNLOADS, DESKTOP & DOCUMENTS. I don't keep important stuff in any of these. How do I select my 2 most important folders? It doesn't seem to let me choose.4KViews5likes10CommentsAccess Dropbox Backup on Mobile?
New Dropbox customer here. I've signed up for Dropbox backup, and looking to use it to fully replace my Backblaze account. Is it possible yet (or planned) to access the Dropbox backup files from the mobile? Or should I just put everything into the Dropbox folder if I prefer that? Hi all-- One of my Windows machines has started throwing errors on every backup. The error is: 19-Mar-2024 01:07:07 -05:00 Error: C:\Users\<user>\Documents\My Dropbox\.dropbox.cache\qebcobkqbgpbzfynfuwbof\placeholder.zip: Unexpected reparse-point type: 00000044 And it throws the same reparse-point error for each of the 90 files in the oddly-named directory. All the files in that directory are “placeholder.xxx” with different file extensions. It just started doing this on March 15, so I’m guessing there was an auto-update of Dropbox that changed something. Any ideas on how to clear the error other than simply removing the directory from the backup set? Thanks!838Views1like3CommentsBeta Build 191.3.4950 all my Backup files moved to their original location.
The client just updated to this build on MacOS (Sonoma 14.3) and its moved all my folders out of the backup folder and into their original location. I disabled and re-enabled the backup but while it said it would move the files into the Dropbox backup folder, they remain in their normal location still.1.7KViews0likes9CommentsExternal backup doesn't show on Android App
Howdy! I just noticed that while I have access to my PC backup in the Dropbox app on my phone, the backup for my external drive is not shown or accessible in the app. It shows up fine online, and the PC app shows that the drive is completely backup up. I am using a Moto Edge 2021 with Android 13.Any thought on how to make the backup accessible as well?Solved1.9KViews0likes4CommentsCannot access my Download folder after uninstalling the Dropbox app
Hello, I've been trying to access my Download file on my PC for a few days now. However, I've been unable to access it since I uninstalled Dropbox, without realizing that my files were linked to it. I've reinstalled the application, but it won't restore the right files. Dropbox was directly linked to my computer and there was no way of recovering a year's worth of work. Every time I click on the "Download" folder, this pop-up appears. Do you have any solutions?477Views0likes1Comment
