Device - iphone 16 and MacBook Pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) - Sequoia 15.7.3/Chrome Question or Issue I've had the "You're out of storage" message for about a year but most of my dropbox usage is temporary file viewing (via "viewed links") that is sent to me from other people for quick download to my device then I never see it again. I've had a handful of folders that were "shared" to me over the years with large amounts of pictures and videos but the most recent folder was back in 2019. I've been deleting these same folders and individual files over and over and over tonight and it won't stick. The pop-ups saying they're removed come up, and sometimes, the file would disappear to then reappear again soon after, but most of the time, a pop up would say "xyz folder has been removed from your dropbox" but then I'd be staring right at it, not removed. When I go to "Photos" one random folder of 915 photos is there and (10) 11min-55min long videos that are all from completely different "removed" folders are there and I get an error message that says "there was a problem deleting xyz. please try again." no matter which device I try to delete them on. I've now "removed" literally every folder from my dropbox from every device I have and nothing has changed. It says I have "61.96GB of 2GB used". Please help me solve this!!24Views0likes3CommentsDropbox Basic account is over quota and completely locked
Device Dell laptop Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) n/a Question or Issue My Dropbox Basic account is over quota and completely locked. I cannot view or delete files via: - dropbox.com/home - /deleted_files - mobile app - desktop app I am not asking for more storage at the moment. I just need temporary access to delete files and bring the account under quota so I can properly assess my current and future needs. Can a Dropbox staff member advise or escalate? Many Thanks. Hi, In my main account, I've deleted a Backup (proper Backup; a computer that was registered there). Today, when exploring the "Recents" filtering on the Home page, I see the name of that computer, folders and files within are still there! I can even open and visualize them. Even though they were supposed to be wiped; when I delete the whole Backup and confirm, they are not supposed to be stored under the retention period. Also, I don't see them anywhere else; not in Deleted Files; not in dropbox.com/backups, so there is no way to restore them or properly delete them. When selecting those files in questions from the Recents filter, the only options I get are "File Info" and "File Activity", so Dropbox "knows" that those files are supposed to not exist anymore and, hence, it won't let me do anything. When you right click other; existing files there, you get all the options like Open, Share, Delete, etc. In summary, this is clearly a (serious) bug: Those files should have been completely removed when I deleted the Backup They shouldn't show up in Recents list as a leftover Serious privacy issue, as not only they show there as some useless remnants, I get a thumbnail preview of them and I can double click to open! You are clearly storing my data I chose to delete! As a side note, why can't we clear or selectively remove items from the Recents list; nor on the Web or the App? I've seen some posts from years ago. Is this ever going to be addressed? All the other main players (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) allow that, so why do I have to see stuff I don't want in my Recents filtering "forever" (or until they get cycled out; which I couldn't find any documentation on how many files you keep there) Thanks.95Views0likes7CommentsI keep seeing a pop-up message online that keeps appearing each time. Can I stop it?
For the past few days, when I log in to the web version of Dropbox.com, I get a pop-up message that says, "View files you have deleted - You can also easily restore or permanently delete them here." Even if I click the OK button, the message keeps appearing every time I log in. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks!90Views0likes5CommentsDocuments are just missing but I didn't delete them
I'm on a Windows PC with a laptop as well as a laptop and iPhone. I have a lot of documents, and something has happened where my documents literally have been deleted. I can't find a version control on missing documents. These are documents I would not have deleted because I use them in knowledge bases in my custom GPTs, and they're still there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I'm being pretty generic, but I'm at a loss right now.50Views0likes6CommentsFiles simply gone without any mention of them anywhere in the account
have used Dropbox for years - have thousands and thousands of files from past company photoshoots and various creative assets. Files that cost more than a pretty penny to produce. We are in those folders on a monthly (if not weekly) basis. Then - nothing. Gone. The folders still exist, but no files are showing in the folders. Nothing in the file history, events log, or replay. They are simply gone without a trace. Chat bot keeps telling me to email the latest event from the log to support team, but there is ZERO events related to those folders? And the links provided by the bot to reach out to support simply take me back to the AI chat bot. And around and around we go. with no solution, answers or files.55Views1like3CommentsHaving issues locating some of my content both online, and the app.

Currently I cannot see any of them that start with a letter after G, with the exception of one that starts with P. A good friend has sent me a link to share her very precious photos, so I opened a Dropbox account. In total they are 4.3gb, too large for a basic free account, but I didn't know this until I had added them to my account. I have now downloaded them all to a hard drive as the free 2gb Dropbox was not big enough. If I delete the photos and close my drop box account will I be deleting the photos on her Dropbox account too? I can't risk doing that!71Views0likes4Comments
