This is reason number 7 why I use Google Drive. forgive me for my attitude… but I’m sick of this crap! everything I do in Google Drive works perfectly all the time! However… I have 1 client that wants to use Dropbox. Haven't logged in since 2023 because the platform sucks. Reset password and logged in today. Surprise! Got proved right again… my “storage was 700% full”. Old stuff I already have in Google. So, I deleted EVERY folder I had. storage still full! went to deleted items. Deleted EVERY folder there! Their is now ZERO items anywhere inside my account! STILL!!!! Storage is full! Full of what? This is so stupid! Can I sent my client his files before Christmas? No, I can’t. Dropbox is too stupid to update and let me! I’m not giving you 15 bucks so i can send 1.2 gigs to 1 random guy! Can anyone help me or advise?I permanently deleted some deleted files and then my files were gone - can I recover them?
I was in the 'Deleted files' folder and permanently deleted the items. When I returned to the main page, all my folders were gone. How can I recover the files from the main page and understand what happened?44Views0likes2CommentsCan I restore many files at once?
OK, here goes, looking for a one-in-a-million shot. And thank you very much to anyone who may answer me. I recently deleted almost all my word files in dropbox, through cyber-stupidity. Then I received an email saying I have thirty days to restore them. I eventually figured out that I can bring up "deleted files" and hit restore. But I want to go through hundreds of files to pick out many to restore, and my dropbox will only let me bring up twenty-five files for possible restoration, and will not let me scroll further to find other files to restore. By any chance, does someone out there with a LOT more computer knowledge than I possess, know how I can bring up deleted files and get the list to scroll all the way through the hundreds I have deleted so I can pick out a lot of them to restore? Again, I would be immensely grateful to receive a response. Heck, I'm such a computer dunce, I don't know that I'll be able to find the response if someone does reply to me. But again, thank you all for taking the time to read this note. Dave P.S. I have a Mac Mini.35Views0likes1CommentDeliberate omission of critical folders for Basic accounts.
I would like to bring to your attention a concerning practice that appears to affect free-tier users. Dropbox is not any more secure without external backup. It has become evident that certain shared folders (which are visible and accessible in read-only mode under a single account) are intentionally excluded from backups and event logging for users on the free plan. This omission makes it effectively impossible to track or recover any changes or deletions, as: Backup history is almost not available for free accounts. Event and activity logs are retained for only 30 days in the free tier. No relevant events or actions appear in the logs, even when changes or deletions are suspected. This issue has been reported and discussed by multiple users across various forums and communities, with many suspecting that folders are being deliberately hidden or removed in free accounts as a way to pressure users into upgrading to a paid subscription.40Views0likes2CommentsHow do I stop files being deleted due to inactivity?
Mark i was gonna ask about the comment u made 2 years ago saying that the content and files in dropbox gets deleted after 12 months of inactivity, how do i stop that? what constitutes inactivity? because i got a warning that my files may be deleted as it exceeded102Views0likes9CommentsMoving files on my desktop to the trash deletes them immediately instead.
I am running Dropbox Backup. On MacOS, when I drag a file on my desktop to the trash, it is deleted automatically. In other words, it does not appear in the trash in case I want to recover it later. I get a warning that says "This item will be deleted immediately. You can't undo this action." When the same file is in any other folder or location on my computer besides the Desktop, and I drag it to the trash, the behavior is normal - the files goes into the trash where I can see it and recover it if need be. I am running Dropbox Backup on Sequoia 15.2 on a 2020 M1 Macbook Air. Any thoughts?512Views0likes21CommentsI changed my password, and lost my files. And now I can't restore them to a previous version.
Windows 11 on a MSI desktop pc I have the basic Dropbox. I recently changed my gmail password and was prompted to restart Dropbox. I thought it would open my original dropbox with the same name but it seems to have overwritten it and all my files have disappeared. I did a system restore of my pc but that didn't affect Dropbox so tried going into properties and restoring a previous version. Clicking that brings up the files but I'm unable to complete the transfer because the files are "write protected" and I don't know how to disable this. Can you help please?Solved51Views0likes4CommentsCan't delete backups that have filled up my Dropbox
Dropbox account is over the limit because a few large files were backed up from an External Drive. Unfortunately the Computer that had the external drive attached died and is gone. The list of backup files as seen below: When an attempt to delete some of them is made the option to click on "I don't have access" is shown. Clicking on that prompts you to go to the security tab in Settings and sign out of the device. However, the only device showing there is the one currently being used so it's a dead end. If Backup Settings is selected instead of the "I don't have access" option you just come back to the settings and are told "to manage the settings of External Drive, sign on to that device". How can I delete these backups? Thanks!Solved274Views0likes13CommentsMy version history is missing.
