I basically got Dropbox in order to move my enormous collection of pictures and videos from my iPhone to somewhere else...The transfer went fine for a while, but then it has stopped and I keep seeing a message saying "waiting to upload". I have quit the application and relaunched, which does nothing. I have even upgraded Dropbox, as I suspect I will need the extra space... There is still over 400 pictures which are "waiting to upload" plus a few videos. And did I mention I started this process 13th of December...?Solved38KViews0likes37CommentsDropbox Not working after restart: Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment.
I have been experiencing a very frustrating issue with Dropbox the past few days. Issue: After restarting my Mac Studio (MacOS 13.6.5), Dropbox always gets stuck with the message: Reconnecting to the internet. This may take a moment. No VPN No Firewall Home Network Fully updated Dropbox The thing that is baffling is that : If you Quit and restart Dropbox it works immediately but if you restart the computer the issue appears again If you wait for a long time Dropbox eventually connects and syncs. But it takes a long time On the same computer, about a week ago, Dropbox was syncing instantly after reboot. I have tried already reinstalling and deleting the cache folder. Is this a known issue that's going on at the moment> Many thanksSolved30KViews13likes120CommentsIs there a cheaper plan than the Plus plan, that offers more space?
my question is: Is there any plan that is even cheaper than the normal basic plan of 2000 tb? It happens that I want to have more storage space, but the cheapest plan is still quite expensive. Is there an alternative storage plan, which is cheaper?Solved30KViews12likes171CommentsiOS 11 Files App iPad - waiting to download
Using the Files App on iOS 11 - on my 11.2 iPhone 7 Plus everything works perfectly. From the Files App I see thumbnail representation of Dropbox files, I tap the file (e.g. a PDF) and it downloads and opens. On my 9.7 iPad Pro also running 11.2 - same Dropbox account - same files - no thumbnails, and every file tap results in âWaiting to downloadâ and a spinning circle forever. Cleared cache, no Dropbox pin, turned off 2FA, deleted and reinstalled both Dropbox and Files App and same result. Contacted Dropbox Support and got boilerplate âuse our app instead of Appleâsâ mindless response. Apple support says it is a Dropbox issue. I just want it to work like it does on the phone. Any suggestions?Solved27KViews1like31CommentsNeed all my files accessible locally. On my machine there's no option to "Make Available Offline."
Honestly, this seemingly late "bringing to the forefront" (I guess you'd call it) of the whole "Online Only" vs. "Make Available Offline" thing has been more of a headache than a help, if I may offer my opinion. I purchased a new ultra-portable Windows computer which has a 256GB SSD on board, but I plan on using my Dropbox files with it, and I have well over 256GB worth of stuff in my Dropbox. The thing is that I'm often in situations in which I need offline access to my files. So I purchased a 1 TB microSD card, which will never leave its slot in this machine. Heck, I can't even retrieve it, it seems. I mounted it so that it isn't considered "Removable Media" by the computer, and then I proceeded to install Dropbox on the computer, with the intent of using the 1 TB card exclusively for Dropbox content...offline. I left my machine to sync overnight, and what do you know? Everything has a stupid cloud next to it. I have no option to "Make Available Offline," either in the file/folder context menu or in the Dropbox application > Preferences > Sync menu. If this is by design, it's a pitifully stupid design. I'm going to whatever lengths I can to make this work the way I envision, but I'm going to be awfully disappointed if Dropbox doesn't respect use cases that might not necessarily conform to a narrow definition. If it's an issue with a recent update to the application, then please bug the developers posthaste.Solved25KViews1like125CommentsDeleted files keep reappearing
Hi all, I know that many threads on this issue exist in the forum, but I couldn't find anyone that helped in my case, or the issues are slightly different. Before contacting support directly I thought that it might be good to describe it here in the forum (and hopefully someone can help me :)). I have in my dropbox a couple of PDF files in the main Dropbox folder and a subfolder (which has also one subfolder with ca. a hundred PDF files) that always keep reappearing after I deleted them, usually within half an hour (sometimes it happens instantly). They are not shared. I got this issue only very recently, and some time after I upgraded to Dropbox Plus (last month). Before, I had Dropbox Basic and I really never had this issue (which makes it even more frustrating). I have tried everything that I could possibly imagine. I unlinked all of my devices, reinstalled Dropbox, I reverted to an older version of the files, I put them on the hard drive and back again in Dropbox, I (permanently) deleted them in the browser...nothing helps. When I rename them, they are still added with the original name (the renamed copies stay - I probably could multiply them infinitely like that). These files are not old files from two years ago (saw some people in the forum having this issue). The issue appeared when I put these files and folders originally at the same place where they keep reappering now with their original name. Last week, I moved them to another folder and renamed them, but they stayed in my Dropbox. So I have these files/folders with different names and directory, but their "original" versions keep reappearing at their "original" place. It's a bit like these "original" files are stuck in the cloud servers forever, and they are always put back like that in my own Dropbox. I don't know if there was an issue with the syncing, or some other technical problem. It can also be something I did wrong, though I don't really know what. As I said, never had these issues before and use Dropbox a lot, on at least three devices regularly (Mac and Windows). No device has been added shortly before or since I have this issue. I hope that I could describe my problem with as many details as possible, and hopefully as clear as possible. Thank you very much in advance for your help!Solved24KViews2likes11CommentsUnsubscribe Dropbox Plus Trial from Google Play Store
I subscribed for Dropbox Plus Trial from Google Play Store. I only can unsubscribe from Google Play Store and not the 'Billing' or 'Plan' page as I did not sign up for trial through Dropbox. I need to unsuscribe in the next 48 hours but my Google Play Store subscription is empty, so I cannot find it to unsubscribe. Please help me, thank you!Solved18KViews0likes22CommentsI need to permanently delete my files, but I get message "x items couldnât be permanently deleted".
When I wanted to permanently delete a file or folder (which I may have shared with others or not). I used to be able to delete it in Finder and then would get asked by Dropbox: Delete "untitled folder" from everyone's account and all devices? I then confirm with "Delete for everyone" and proceed to empty the trash on my Mac. Now I log on to my Dropbox account, go to "Deleted files" and select the ones I want to permanently delete. Then confirm this and they were gone, space would be freed up. Well, gone are those glory days of simplicity, because: NOW I get told by Dropbox: "File XYZ will be gone forever for everyone, including for anyone still using the folder. Permanently deleting this folder wonât free up space." I confirm by selecting "Permanently delete" NOW I get the message: "x items couldnât be permanently deleted" Dropbox tells me â uselessly: "What you can do": "Ask the owner to help permanently delete this" I AM the #!*„ owner, aren't I? Plus, didn't clicking "Delete for everyone" on the desktop version make it clear that ALL those files have to go? Shurely this is a recent bug. It wasn't such a hassle before to get rid of old files. Or am I missing something? GrrrrrSolved18KViews3likes10CommentsDropbox wonât play videos on iPhone app
I have Dropbox Plus, and have the Dropbox app on my iPhone 7 Plus. I tried to look at some baby videos of my daughter on Dropbox (from the last year or so), and none of them will play. They will register that itâs a video, but when I tap it to play, the length of the video doesnât show, and nothing happens. Iâve tried lots of videos, and they are all the same, except a slo-no video, which plays fine.Solved17KViews0likes5Comments
