Dropbox Vault
79 TopicsVault termination
It seems like Dropbox is about to do it again. After removing the strong integration with Google Docs, causing many customers to all of a sudden have to work with links instead of documents, Dropbox is now planning for the termination of Vault (end of March '25). Did you like the function that allowed you to keep some files extra safe in a fully encrypted and PIN-locked container on your dropbox ? Yes ? Well tough for you! Remarkably, Dropbox now claims it will automatically move the files you have stored in your vault to a normal folder on your regular dropbox. Oh really? I guess that means Dropbox has full access to my vault then, and can just move files around as they see fit ? That is quite alarming for a functionality that is supposed to be fully encrypted. Really Dropbox, this is NOT how you obtain customer satisfaction or loyalty. I've been using your service for about 20 years now, but I'm actively checking out alternatives.Solved4.4KViews30likes73CommentsRetain Vault!
There are so many reasons to continue Vault but a key one is that the Dropbox folder on a PC (and a Mac?) is not protected by Windows or iOs in any normal way. Vault made protection possible for key files. But of course being able to protect the entire Dropbox folder on a PC or Mac would be an even better idea!Solved1.7KViews14likes33CommentsCan you keep the Dropbox Vault please?
Very Dissatisfied At Hearing About The Vault Being Discontinued. The Vault is an extremely handy extra security feature, adding another layer of security. I’m very dismayed to hear that Dropbox, has astonishingly, come to the decision to drop this feature! It makes zero sense. I hope that the company will reevaluate this shocking decision and keep the Vault in play. Many Thanks, Edmond945Views12likes8Comments🌟🤝Community Spirit Badge 🤝🌟

Hello, Dropbox Vault sounds like a very nice new feature, and I was wondering how to access it while I'm not connected to the internet (i.e. offline). On my Mac, when I click on the Vault icon it always opens up the dropbox website, and doesn't seem to be letting me access it locally. Any way to access dropbox vault offline/locally?8.1KViews5likes13CommentsVault does not open!!
I tried setting up Vault a few days ago and chose a PIN. I moved some of my most sensitive files into it and saw that they were there. Now, a few days later, I cannot access the Vault at all! When I click on it in either the Windows 10 File Explorer or the Dropbox App the cursor spins for a moment but the Vault does not open. File Explorer now reports the size of the Vault is ZERO bytes. Please help! Did Dropbox just lose all my most important files??? ThanksSolved10KViews5likes5CommentsEdit files in vault on Windows
I've looked into new Dropbox plus features this morning, tried out the new Vault feature. I've realized that, when you are on Windows, there is no way to edit the files you have in the Vault. You can do this on Android with the Dropbox app, because the app has a text editor, but on Windows the way to edit files is to opened the sync file on your machine. However, the Vault folder does not get synced. Text files can't be edited in the browser in Dropbox, so the only options for editing the files in the Vault right now seems to be to move them out of the Vault, edit them, move them back in the Vault. Maybe someone has looked into this more. Is there a way to edit those files without moving them? Is there any plan to implement something to permit this (the Vault is a new feature)? Or will there be an option in the future to sync the Vault folder to Windows (while keeping it secure)?7.1KViews5likes7CommentsHow to Remove Passwords App and Vaults?
Hi, I clicked ok when Dropbox suggested I download both of these. I now realise I need neither of them, and they clutter up my Dropbox folders and cannot be moved. How to uninstall/unlink/unsubscribe please? I’ve asked Dropbox support on twitter but they have been no help, just asking me to send more and more of my private information, which sounds suspect. Thanks, Rory5.1KViews4likes13Comments
