Dropbox Vault
19 TopicsHow can I encrypt a specific Dropbox folder?
How do I password protect a specific folder. I have my dropbox synced to my pc and I would like additional security on a single folder with private information, if my PC is hacked, or my account is accessed. Dropbox used to have this functionality by creating an encrypted "vault"; now my "vault" just reverted to a regular folder. I upgraded for the premium version with all functionality so I could add back this function, but I can't seem to figure it out, it only shows how to password protect a shared folder from other users, but when I search for how to encrypt a specific folder within my own dropbox account with additional security, it just send me to promotional websites.Solved259Views1like2CommentsHow do you add a password to files and/or folders to keep it secured?
So, Dropbox got rid of the vault feature last month. The question now becomes, how do you add a password to files and/or folders to keep it secured? At a minimum, Windows lets you password protect a file, so if Dropbox can't even do that now what's the point of it? Additionally, I am logged out of Dropbox on my computer, but can still access my Dropbox drive from My Computer. With the vault gone, how do I make sure that these files are only accessible either on Dropbox website or only if I'm logged in?85Views0likes1CommentWhat alternatives do we have following the Vault discontinuation?
I like keeping my most sensitive documents inside this PIN protected folder, knowing that anyone who has access (or gains access) to my Mac will not have access to the files inside. Now that Dropbox is removing this critical feature, what can users do to protect their most sensitive documents? The suggestions provided by Dropbox -- such as enabling 2-factor authentication -- are unhelpful because they do not secure the folder from someone who may have access to the machine, for example a child or a co-worker.357Views0likes2CommentsFeedback on Vault being terminated
I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the decision to discontinue Dropbox Vault. This feature has been an essential part of my workflow, offering me an extra layer of security and peace of mind for my most sensitive files. While I understand that Dropbox has cited technical risks as the reason for this change, I believe that eliminating a feature valued by many users without providing a comparable alternative undermines the trust we place in this platform for safeguarding our data. For many of us, Vault was more than just a folderâit was a secure space that enhanced the overall value of using Dropbox. I sincerely hope Dropbox reconsiders this decision or, at the very least, introduces new security features that provide a similar level of protection and user control. It would be reassuring to know that Dropbox remains committed to meeting the diverse needs of its users. Thank you for considering this feedback. I look forward to hearing more about how Dropbox plans to address these concerns moving forward.129Views2likes1CommentHow can I add files to my Dropbox Vault?

I invited a friend to be my trusted contact for my Dropbox vault, but he can't accept the invite. He said that it tells him "email already in use". He tried to log into Dropbox, but then it prompted him to create an account, indicating that he doesn't have one. If he doesn't have an account, how can the email already be in use? What can he do? What can I do?80Views0likes3CommentsOption for Dropbox Vault to be hidden and additional step for resetting Vault's pass-code
I think it would be a great idea for security purposes that the vault has an option to be hidden or just not so easy to find in the case someone else has access to your Dropbox. Additionally, I believe resetting the password/passcode for the vault should be a two or more step process that triggers an email that requires confirmation as a first step. The second step could be a personal security question or something along those lines to ensure privacy to the owner.854Views0likes1CommentVault locked online, but can't lock in File Explorer.
I unlocked my Vault and added files to it. Now when I try to lock the vault again, I have the situation where: (1) the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer (2) I logged into my account on the Dropbox website, locked the Vault and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer (3) I logged OUT of my account on the Dropbox website, (with the Vault locked) and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer. (4) I have tried several times to lock the Vault in Windows Explorer, mainly by R-click and selecting "Lock Vault". WHY WON'T IT LOCK? This is a serious situation, when the Vault is supposed to "hide" files until it's unlocked. It shouldn't be this hard to lock the Vault. What is going on? I've searched all the menus. It shouldn't be this hard! Thanks for help... but Dropbox.... you need to make this more straightforward.1.6KViews1like5Comments
