How do you add a password to files and/or folders to keep it secured?
So, Dropbox got rid of the vault feature last month. The question now becomes, how do you add a password to files and/or folders to keep it secured? At a minimum, Windows lets you password protect a file, so if Dropbox can't even do that now what's the point of it? Additionally, I am logged out of Dropbox on my computer, but can still access my Dropbox drive from My Computer. With the vault gone, how do I make sure that these files are only accessible either on Dropbox website or only if I'm logged in?
What alternatives do we have following the Vault discontinuation?
I like keeping my most sensitive documents inside this PIN protected folder, knowing that anyone who has access (or gains access) to my Mac will not have access to the files inside. Now that Dropbox is removing this critical feature, what can users do to protect their most sensitive documents? The suggestions provided by Dropbox -- such as enabling 2-factor authentication -- are unhelpful because they do not secure the folder from someone who may have access to the machine, for example a child or a co-worker.
How can I add files to my Dropbox Vault?
I am having trouble identifying how to choose file from Dpropbox folders and transfer to Vault . I have looked on line and it says â select the âaddâ option but I canât find any sign of that . I invited a friend to be my trusted contact for my Dropbox vault, but he can't accept the invite. He said that it tells him "email already in use". He tried to log into Dropbox, but then it prompted him to create an account, indicating that he doesn't have one. If he doesn't have an account, how can the email already be in use? What can he do? What can I do?
Option for Dropbox Vault to be hidden and additional step for resetting Vault's pass-code
I think it would be a great idea for security purposes that the vault has an option to be hidden or just not so easy to find in the case someone else has access to your Dropbox. Additionally, I believe resetting the password/passcode for the vault should be a two or more step process that triggers an email that requires confirmation as a first step. The second step could be a personal security question or something along those lines to ensure privacy to the owner.
Vault locked online, but can't lock in File Explorer.
I unlocked my Vault and added files to it. Now when I try to lock the vault again, I have the situation where: (1) the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer (2) I logged into my account on the Dropbox website, locked the Vault and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer (3) I logged OUT of my account on the Dropbox website, (with the Vault locked) and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer. (4) I have tried several times to lock the Vault in Windows Explorer, mainly by R-click and selecting "Lock Vault". WHY WON'T IT LOCK? This is a serious situation, when the Vault is supposed to "hide" files until it's unlocked. It shouldn't be this hard to lock the Vault. What is going on? I've searched all the menus. It shouldn't be this hard! Thanks for help... but Dropbox.... you need to make this more straightforward.
