I have the basic dropbox on two computers - say Desktop and Laptop. Due to a Desktop restore from Idrive cloud backup my dropbox on Desktop has updated with old folders/files which were previously deleted or modified and a sync operation up to the max memory allowed in basic account has occured (dropbox stopped sync as memory got full) so now I have incorrect contents on the Web dropbox. I cannot use the rewind facillity as its a basic account (tells be to go buy an upgrade if I try and rewind a folder}. To get back to my dropbox before it got accidentaly updated with old stuff, my idea is to to uninstall dropbox from Desktop and delete the local dropbox folder. My Laptop was not turned on at the time so that holds the correct Dropbox contents. If I now log into my dropbox web account via a browser and delete all files and folders in the web account and then turn on the Laptop, will the dropbox on my Laptop Sync/upload to the dropbox account and effectively recreate the correct contents. on the Dropbox Web account. I can then re install dropbox on the Desktop and the dropbox will now download from the Web and be correct on the Desktop. Will this work please? Thank you in advance for community member(s) help80Views0likes5CommentsOnce I upload my files with camera uploads, can I delete the local ones?
Once I successfully upload my photos to Dropbox from my Camera Roll on my iPhone and iPad, can I delete those photos - or some of them - from my devices (to free-up space) and if I do, what happens to them? Thanks!Solved178Views0likes2CommentsCan I change the order of the photos I've saved in a folder?
Hello all. Will try to keep this brief. *I have a 2024 Dropbox folder for photos. *I am taking photos on a camera (because I want to) then once a week, copy the photos into the dropbox folder. *I have the sort set up to 'date order'. *Quite often I want to change the order of the photos within the Dropbox folder and/or add a photo into the folder that someone has sent me on whatsapp, or that I have taken on my phone. *These phone photos just land in a heap at the end of my Dropbox folder and don't automatically go in to date order. *Also, Dropbox doesn't allow me to simply drag some photos into a different place. (I have tried changing dates on photos, but it just gets ignored). I'm sure there is a very simple solution to the above, which I look forward to as I'm not that computer literate. Hope the above makes sense; when I put this query into Google, it seems to just ignore my actual question.212Views0likes2CommentsIs it possible to remove Dropbox folders from the 'All files' view?
Hello, Recently, someone in my organization asked about the folders that appear by default in the 'All files' view in Dropbox. (an example of the view is embedded into this message. In the view below, there are folders named "Admin" and "NAMI LACC Team Folder" in addition to a folder the Dropbox uses has containing files they created and edit. The "Admin" and "NAMI LACC Team Folder" are "group" folders that anyone in the organization may access. I want to know if it is possible to remove or move the group folders into another directory on someone's Dropbox directory tree on their hard drive? Or is it possible to just move them to another view besides "All files?" And if so, how would I go about that? Thanks211Views0likes2CommentsWhat does this message mean about deleting my file from all devices?
When I try to delete a file from my dropbox it asks if I want to delete all of those files from all devices? Yet it does not provide any secondary options, like its all or nothing? What does this mean? Will this delete the main copies from my personal hard drive like "OneDrive" did? All I want to do is delete the files in the folder I am currently deleting from. What is the deal? Also the customer support for this app is terrible, I would never subscribe based on what I have experienced so far169Views0likes1CommentWhat happens to my files when Dropbox Support reverts the file deletions on my account?
Hey All. Somehow most of my dropbox files were deleted. We'll call it an "incident" but I'm fairly certain that translates to "user error". The Dropbox team is in the process of reverting my entire dropbox to a date and time prior to the "incident". I'm a little unclear what happens after that. After the "Incident" my MacBook synced overnight and deleted all the files from my dropbox folder on my hard drive. Once my cloud files are restored/reverted won't the first sync just re-delete everything and mirror what is currently on my MacBook?135Views0likes1Comment
