26 TopicsRequest to Reinstate Transfer Link in Dropbox Notification Emails
Hi, I hope you’re doing well. This is not a new idea, but rather a request to reinstate a feature that previously existed and, unfortunately, was removed sometime last year. In the past, when I created a Transfer from a Dropbox folder or file, I would receive an email titled “New Transfer: File Name”. That email included the transfer link directly in a copyable text box. This was extremely helpful, as it allowed me to quickly copy and resend the link - especially when clients asked for it again days later, or when I was away from my computer and needed access via my phone and Gmail. Today, the notification email no longer includes the transfer link. Instead, it contains a “Manage Transfer” button, which opens a browser window outside the email app - and not even the Dropbox app itself, which I have installed on my phone. This extra step makes it much harder and less accessible to quickly retrieve and resend a transfer link, particularly on mobile devices. As a dedicated Dropbox user since 2009, I truly appreciate the product and rely on it heavily in my workflow. Reintroducing the shareable transfer link directly within the email - as it previously existed - would be a simple yet powerful improvement. It offered a fast, intuitive way to access transfer links without having to navigate through multiple windows or menus. Thank you very much for your time and for considering this request. I often find duplicate photos in several folders using the 'Find duplicates' feature. Currently, I have to delete selected photos from each duplicate set one by one. It would be helpful if I could select all the photos I want to delete across multiple sets and remove them in a single operation. This would make managing duplicates much faster and more efficient.53Views1like1CommentExtraction of the current structure for Folders/Users/grants
Now it's not possible to extract the current structure for Folders/Users/grants. It would be great to have the possibilities for an organization to extract via excel the complete structure of the: folders files users grants (read/write) in order to make easier a reorganization of the information above. And after the review of the information to have the possibility to upload it in order to apply the changes.45Views0likes1CommentComment without Login
I'm sharing photos and videos, as well as production documents with clients and love to get their feedback on the specific file. However, many companies prohibit employees from generating their own Dropbox account, which is needed to comment on the files. How about just having to "sign up" with their Name and Email in order to get notifications? Would love to have an easier way to share files with clients and get their feedback as simple as possible.112Views1like1CommentOption to automatically lock a file.
We constantly have issues with conflicted copies! Yes - even though there is the badge that shows up, and even though file locking is an option if done manually. I've done research and MANY other systems support this feature. I've been a long-time Dropbox user, but am looking aggressively at changing due to this issue. It shouldn't have to be a manual process to prevent someone else from opening the same file I am currently working on and saving a conflicted copy. Who would remember to do a manual file lock each and every time they open a document?!187Views2likes3CommentsFull file path for deleted files
I recent had many files deleted due to a Windows Chkdsk finding and repairing some disc errors. However, when looking under "Deleted files" or "Events" on Dropbox, in most cases only the main folder path is shown and not the sub-folders the files were actually located in. This made it near impossible to identify files. My suggestion is that the full file path (at least from the main Dropbox folder) is available for any deleted files so that they may be identified correctly. Taking another example... Supposing I had two (or more) large folders with sub folders in the same main folder and accidentally deleted both but needed to keep one. As things stand, both would be listed as having been in the same location (the main folder) and it would be impossible to find all the correct files to restore.84Views0likes1CommentSearch and sort through images with facial recognition
I’m in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyone’s photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.2.2KViews25likes12Comments
