File access
529 TopicsI can't find my file transfers after upgrading my Dropbox account.
I shared five links with a Basic account, all of which were supposed to expire tomorrow (29 April 2025). However I received an email today notifying me that they hadn't been downloaded yet. In response, I upgraded my account to a Standard plan to extend the expiration date. But now, all of the links have disappeared. I can't find them in the bin, the expired section, or anywhere else. Even when I try to open the file by clicking on the 'Manage Transfer' link in the email I received when I originally shared it, I just get an empty transfers page. I'm extremely frustrated and upset. Please help me!37Views0likes3CommentsThe one-time code gets sent to an inaccessible email address. How can I access my Dropbox account?
I would like to access an old college Dropbox account that contains a lot of important projects. I know the email and password associated but cannot get past the two-factor authentication. It submits a code to the email that is deactivated - that I have no access to anymore. This is dumb. Dropbox should by default negate two-factor for college email accounts after an extended period of time. The email address does not exist anymore! How do I solve this?I need urgent access to the files I had in a closed Dropbox team account.
Hello Dropbox Support, My name is Eldad from Eldad Photographers. I urgently request temporary access to a closed Dropbox Team account (eldadoffice Dropbox), registered under [removed]. Due to a major price change we canceled our plan. Exactly during that time, a war broke out in Israel, our work stopped completely, and I volunteered to help with search and rescue operations. In the chaos, important client materials remained online. These files are now urgently needed for legal and professional obligations. My current contact email is [removed]. Please help us recover access temporarily, even for an additional payment if needed. Thank you very much, Eldad Eldad Photographers [personal information removed per the Community's Guidelines]40Views0likes1CommentOne of my folders has a selective sync conflict and its files have disappeared.
Recently my PC crashed so while in the shop I set up my old laptop and put some Dropbox files in using selective sync (due to limited space)... Now I have my PC back and an important folder has a sync conflict with nothing in it... There is no duplicate folder and it only shows up on Mobile (which is the web) and on computer web access (with selective sync conflict) ... I do not know where the files are... Not in the trash on Dropbox and not in my recycle bin on PC... Please, someone help me find my missing files... (PS: They are images of the Book of Isaiah Scrolls that I created... ) I thought they would always be safe in Dropbox...48Views0likes1CommentI'd like a feature that allows me to secure a folder of files with a password for extra protection.
It would be a great idea to implement an extra layer of protection to be able to hide certain files or be able to lock them with a set password within the app since I experience multiple users on multiple machines of mine being able to access most of the files. Therefor I would really benefit from a folder I can lock with my personal password and therefor hide sensitive information or files that should not be accessed by other users but me. I would suggest calling it something like Vault or Hidden Files. This could also be done via integration through the apps, let people decide if they want to install the vault feature or not.88Views2likes7CommentsMy phone was stolen and my Dropbox files are missing but it says that my account is almost full
My Dropbox says that I'm almost at capacity on my basic plan but I cannot see any documents files or photos. My iPhone 14 plus was stolen and pictures of my ID and social security card were in there as well as some intimate photos. I'm going to assume they moved or shared the files because I don't see them anywhere in the list I see nothing at all. But I do see that it says I'm almost at capacity. How is this? How do I get my files? I chose to retrieve files within the last 30 days but it didn't show anything. I can't contact the live person. I really need stuff that's in there. What do I do?22Views0likes2CommentsFiles won't save
Twice in the last 7 weeks I've been completely unable to save a document. I've tried renaming it, and it won't rename-- it just stays as the original name. No error message. The system "blinks" and reverts back to the original name each time I go to "save as" and try to update the file name. The side box pops up each time: "Meet the dropbox badge" as if I've opened a new file. The document continues to say it was last updated 3 months ago when I just did 30 minutes of work on it this morning and tried to save it repeatedly. I can save my Word doc as a pdf-- that's the only saving I can do. But, that means I can't open it up and continue to work on it later this afternoon. I primarily use the desktop app. However, the file is not saving online, either. It is not the same file that had this same problem in early March, making me worry that I could lose work on any file at any time. There was no warning that something was wrong with the file when I started working on it. I'm afraid to close the document now for fear of losing my work. What can I do?? This is a Windows 11 computer. No other issues have occurred with it. Last time, Dropbox said this happened because the system had a recent update. However, that is not the case this time!12Views0likes1CommentOption to automatically lock a file.
We constantly have issues with conflicted copies! Yes - even though there is the badge that shows up, and even though file locking is an option if done manually. I've done research and MANY other systems support this feature. I've been a long-time Dropbox user, but am looking aggressively at changing due to this issue. It shouldn't have to be a manual process to prevent someone else from opening the same file I am currently working on and saving a conflicted copy. Who would remember to do a manual file lock each and every time they open a document?!31Views0likes1Comment'Invalid password' error when opening password-protected files
I have many files that are password protected. I have had them for years and have never had trouble accessing them. My password is stored in a password vault, and I have never touched or changed it. Now, every file I try to open says "invalid password," even though I'm copying it from my password vault. This happens on my phone, my Dropbox app on my Mac, and in Dropbox.com in the Safari browser. How can I access my files!!??Solved92Views0likes5Comments
