Multiple Accounts
98 TopicsHow to manage multiple Dropbox accounts on the same computer
I am having no end of trouble trying to figure out the best way to coordinate between different email addresses. I have clients who add me to their dropbox using my current work email, that is not connecting to my personal login. I know of the "link" option, but when I go to it in my settings I get a 404 error. Then, I have a third dropbox connected with my former work--the employer removed all sensitive files but I still need to have access to items that other people shared with me via that email address, and I am authorized to access the account. I use dropbox for everything and had migrated my desktop to the cloud, but now when I changed jobs everything is broken. Is there any way to not have to be constantly logging in and out of multiple accounts--especially when I have it set to auto-sync my desktop with all current-working files, it gets very confused when I have to switch accounts. I want to have multiple accounts on my PC to allow for different i-Tunes libraries but allow dropbox to sync the same location on the drive. Is this possible? Ex: c:\dropbox is synced via the same dropbox account for both windows accounts. This came up as an issue because it seems like the dropbox app installs to the user profile instead of globally to the machine. I don't want to corrupt my files by syncing from the same machine twice. Is there any issue with what I'm suggesting? User1 and User2's windows profiles both point to c:\dropbox and use the same user@dropbox to sync them?Solved21KViews0likes8Commentschange googlemail.com to gmail.com -> lost my account
Hello, everyone, Google has recommended that I shorten my email address from googlemail.com to gmail.com without any changes. For all other sites where I have logged in with my gmail it works fine. But dropbox has created a new account for me and I don't have access to my client's data anymore. When I try to login with googlemail.com, I am redirected to the new account with gmail.com. I'm just confused why a new account is created for me. Is there a way I can get access to the old account again?Solved17KViews1like2CommentsAccidentally Merged my personal Drop Box with Business Account
I had a personal dropbox that I accidentally merge with a business account by using the same email. How can I get my personal dropbox back with the email and content that is now associated with business dropbox login.Solved12KViews0likes17CommentsEmail address already taken
My main dropbox account is linked to an old email address that I no longer use. I have tried to change the email address to the one I use but it is already taken, by me. I have paid for a space upgrade for Dropbox on my PC (old email address) but can't access the extra space on my lap top (new email address). I don't want to pay for another upgrade. I think I might have to cancel both accounts completely and start again. But doing that I'll lose my upgrade?Solved7.1KViews0likes42CommentsDesktop app on Mac crashes when trying to link a second account
Hi I was using Dropbox Beta with the new cloud storage location in Ventura. I had both personal and business account on the desktop app. Things were working mostly ok, but I was having some issues with syncing, so I thought I should try leaving the beta. that's when all the problems started. After I left the beta, I could no longer add a second account to the desktop app. I tried adding the Personal account then adding the Business acount. I tried adding the Business account, then adding the Personal account. When I add the second account, Dropbox crashes and it doesn't login. So I went back to the beta to see if that made a difference and it hasn't. So now I'm stuck with only my Business account in the beta Is there anyway to fully reset Dropbox on the computer to fix this? thanks PaulSolved3.7KViews0likes27CommentsEndless loop when trying to use & connect both my personal & work account.
Here's the scenario. Mac OS Ventura, I have a Work Dropbox account & a Personal one. I connect these online while signed into my personal account easily enough. Go through the websites selective sync process for my personal account which changes the Personal Dropbox folder to the dropbox icon in Finder & in the dropdown menu of the app shows it at the top & as "signed in". Syncing begins, I have access to the right-click menu to assign files as "online only" or "available offline" in Finder, all good so far. I check with dropbox information... here is their quote: "You must be logged into both linked Dropbox accounts on the web session or the app you're using to switch between your accounts." So I move on to signing in to my work account which appears in the dropdown of the app as signed out. Heres where the issues begin... When I go to the app to switch accounts, it takes me back to the online process to selectively sync, however if I follow that through to completion my work account is signed in & my Personal account is now signed out. If I try to sign in to my Personal account in the Preferences / Account tab of the app it takes me back to the online selective sync cycle I've already completed for that account & if I follow that through to completion a second time I am then signed out of my Work account. The same thing happens if I follow Dropboxes own instructions & try to do it on the website. Endless loop ensues. It absolutely baffles me the software engineers get sign off on these products & are able to bring them to market when they are so woefully poorly built. God knows how much my work are paying for this next to useless software... I look forward to a moderator or staff member explaining to me how despite following all instructions this is somehow my fault.Solved3.7KViews0likes21CommentsEmail change
Dear all, I have the following problem. The email connected to my dropbox account is going to expire in about 10 days and I'll lose access to it permantently, so I need to update it urgently. I tried to modify my dropbox email to my secondary email address, but it happens that time ago I created a dropbox account connected to that email, and I'm not really using it. That provokes that I cannot use my secondary email address with my main dropbox account. I don't mind deleting my secondary dropbox account in order to release that email for use in the main one. Would that work? Thanks in advance!! AndreaSolved3.6KViews0likes3CommentsOrange Minus what does the icon mean?
Hello- A couple of days ago, my Dropbox files suddently had an orange minus sign and the content was unavailable. I Googled the symbol, and uninstalled OneDrive---without success. This may be associated with a problem I've had since starting Dropbox---I seem to have two accounts. When I Iog into Dropbox.com, I get one set of a few folders that I almost never use; that also happens after clearing my Firefox cache. On my file manager, when I save files, they go to a different Dropbox location that I can't access using Dropbox.com. Any suggestions would be appreciated!Solved3.4KViews0likes21Comments
