18 TopicsSeparating Teams and Personal/Paid Accounts
I recently upgraded my personal/paid account to a Teams account to collaborate with some contract workers. After the upgrade, my personal files automatically fell under the umbrella of the overall Teams account. Which is weird - but fine. One of my collaborators, who also had a personal/paid account, joined the Team and now their account is now also under the umbrella of my Teams account. This is making them uncomfortable as they have their own business and personal files are within their Dropbox. If I were to be abducted by aliens and my Teams account go unpaid - how would they get their files or regain control of their content? They should not feel somehow stuck with me as I'm not their primary employer - I'm just trying to make it easy to collaborate on work. Should I recommend that they start a new Dropbox account under a different email to completely separate our files? What happens to their personal files (that are under my Teams umbrella) if I delete them from the Team? Is there a better solution for collaborating than having them be a Teams member? Should I delete them from the Team so they can reactivate their personal account and just share folders?Solved660Views0likes6CommentsMy personal account was accidentally merged into a Business Account
I have a personal Dropbox account for my work as a journalist. My business partner created a new Business Account and invited me to join only to access certain files. When I went to accept the system asked to "merge" the accounts and not understanding what that meant, I clicked yes. Then Dropbox notified me that my personal account was closed and they were refunding me my fee. How do I extricate myself from this? I do not want to own the Business Account or have that for my own Dropbox, I only need access to it. How do I restore my Personal account and revive the subscription? The person who created the new business account says it was a mistake, but doesn't know how to fix it and one can't "call" Dropbox, nor is there a way to change accounts. Hi, One of my clients wanted me to connect with their Dropbox teams. When I did, my personal account was changed. I would like it back the way it was. Also, who is paying the $49.73? What do I need to do to keep my original personal account and just add them separate? Below is the message I received before everything changed.Solved303Views0likes3CommentsHow do I get out of a Dropbox team account?

Hello, I need to cancel Dropbox Business. Employees still need Dropbox Basic accounts and need to have access to their personal files as well as shared documents that colleagues from other organizations shared with them. The instructions make it sound simple, and everyone keep access to all their personal and shared files, but loses collaboration and sharing functionality. The statement in red below seems to indicate that everyone on the Team will still be able to see documents and folders that were in the Team Folder. Now they will be in a new shared folder owned by the Admin, but everyone can still see and download if needed. However, there are multiple threads about teams that disbanded and now they can't access any file. Please advise on how to downgrade without it becoming a fiasco. Thank you When you disband your team: All team members and admins get a Dropbox Basic account which contains their personal folder. The content that was in the team space is placed into shared folders, owned by the team admin who triggered the team disband. All users who previously had access to this content, including admins, team members, and external collaborators, continue to have access to the shared folders.356Views0likes1CommentPersonal account to Business account - All files gone
This will be a long post as I've never experienced any thing like this: 1.) I have had my personal Dropbox account for so many years and been paying the PRO-subscription for couple of years. It's all sorted out, some files offline, some online and I was using 1.2-1.4TB of 2.1-2.2TB available space. 2.) I also have a work email and that email is part of a team-Dropbox (business dropbox). I sometime use it to access work related stuff but I don't use it often 3.) My boss was trying to share some folder which would require 24/7 real time sync between us two (he is the admin account for my work-team-business Dropbox plan) but since I don't have my work Dropbox offline-synced I wanted to use my personal account or that BUT he couldn't share the folder with me because Dropbox said that email wasn't part of his Dropbox-Team. 4.) My boss deleted/removed my work email from the work Dropbox and added my personal account to his Dropbox-business/team account and paid about 10-15$ for it. Then things started to go south. 5.) I get this email saying I have to either A) Merge my personal dropbox to the work/business Dropbox or B) Keep them separate. 6.) I ofc choose separate but then Dropbox asks me to set the app up again on my computer and to choose a new place for me offline-Dropbox folder. 7.) I can't remember all of the things that happened but my files were gone, I had nothing in my personal account anymore, 1.2TB of data was gone. All of my pictures of my children and memories from the past years. So I panic and tell my boss to remove me BUT do it in the right way and convert my account back to a personal account like your website says it should be done. 8.) He does that and I can sign into my personal account again (removed per the Community's Guidelines) but still everything is gone and I have nothing in there. It says my data plan is 2GB a month.. I used to have 2.1TB a month! 9.) He then tried to add my old work email back to the team ) just to see what happens and I do that and all of a sudden I see all my personal files in the Dropbox.com website when logged in via my work email !!! 10.) Now I have two Dropbox folders on my computer a) Dropbox (Personal) and b) Amenic ehf. Dropbox (the name of the company I work for) and in there is a folder named ''Fannar Freyr'' (my name) with all my old stuff (1.2TB) but I have to be logged into my work email (removed per the Community's Guidelines) to see it So I'm absolutely gutted and devastated. My account is gone. It's a total total mess and I'm so angry and frustrated How can I revert everything back to like things were? I just want my personal Dropbox account to be exactly like it was 2 hours ago. I want all my stuff inside THAT account, not linked with my workplace-Dropbox account. Please help me2.8KViews0likes14Comments
