Device HP Desktop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6075 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I've not been able to find documents using search in my dropbox folder for a few weeks. I went to indexing options to remove dropbox from indexing and re-add it hoping it would rebuild the index. IT'S NOT THERE TO SELECT AT ALL!! I have my dropbox as a fold in Documents. When I go to C Users Myname Documents, dropbox is not there. I've right clicked the folder and in properties, went to advanced, UNCHECKED allow this folder to have contents indexed and applied that. Then I went back and checked it so they could be indexed and applied that. Dropbox is still not in the indexing options list of folders.111Views0likes16Comments"Disable downloads" feature not working on the desktop app
Hi, I have the essentials plan but I do not have the feature to disable downloads. I have the "allow downloads on dropbox.com" toggled off(see picture) but that doesn't work because someone can still download it. Can someone point to me where is this "disable download" feature that I see online? Does it even exist within my current plan? Any help would be greatly appreciated.38Views0likes4CommentsA new folder I created says it doesn't have an owner when I try to share it
Dropbox Plan Plus Are you a Team Member or Admin? No. I own the account. There is no Admin, and there are no Team Members Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Not that I'm aware of. Question or Issue I created a new folder. It is not within another folder - when I click All Files, it shows at that level. Then I tried to Share it and I got the message below. I've never encountered this problem before when creating folders. What have I done wrong, and how can I create a new folder that I can share?65Views0likes4CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.265Views1like6CommentsExternal users cannot upload to a shared folder they have edit access to
Been trying to get this to work for many years but always give up and use a different service. On my company’s team dropbox I want to create a folder with the purpose of collaborating with outside vendors. I can create invites, confirm access with edit permissions for the outside person, and they can join no problem, but they only ever have download permissions and can’t upload anything to our folder. Am I missing some permission setting? The other method of using a File Request for them to upload something does work but isn’t ideal. These are the settings used for the most recent attempt:86Views0likes2CommentsCan we stop someone with access to a shared link from sharing it with other people?
Hi all, I have a problem with a specific Dropbox setting. I know that what I want to do should be possible, but unfortunately, I can't figure it out. That's why I need your help. It's about the following: I want to share files with clients using Dropbox. I don't want these clients to have to install Dropbox themselves, because we don't want to drive up extra costs for the clients. But I want to prevent the folder links from being made public or shared with people who aren't supposed to have access. How did I set this up? Inside Dropbox, I created a client folder Within this client folder are several subfolders In the LINK FOR VIEWING settings of the client folder and in the subfolders, I selected 'ANYONE WITH LINK' under 'Who can access', because the clients are not added as members in Dropbox. We don't send the links directly to the client, but we copy and paste the shared link into Webflow, where we have created a client page. The link refers to a specific folder on the client page The client has access to the client page. Logins are handled via Memberstack. Using the above, clients can log in to the client page and have access to their files. But what is the issue now? The client can copy the link from the folder and forward this link to someone who is not logged in to the client page. This other person can then use the link to gain access to the Dropbox folder. And that last part is exactly what we want to prevent. How can I prevent this? I have a Dropbox Business Plan and I am the admin. I hope anyone can help me out.90Views0likes6CommentsCan't remove my access from a shared folder since I don't have the option.
Question or Issue I want to remove my access from a shared folder, where I am an editor to save up space (without deleting the shared folder for anyone else). I followed the advice from here: https://help.dropbox.com/share/leave-shared-folder. The problem is that from "manage permissions", I don't have the dropdown menu, where I can click "remove my access" (I am KA on the screenshot). I tried this on my Dropbox windows app and also from the browser website but I still can't do it. When I select delete on the said folder, it only offers to delete the shared folder for everyone. Is there any way I can remove the shared folder for myself so that it stays for others? Thanks for any help.122Views0likes3CommentsI keep seeing a "To sync this file, give Dropbox permission to access it." error on my Mac.
Device MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) (Quad-Core Intel Core i5) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 229.4.5197 Syncing Status 89 files are unable to sync Question or Issue Hi! I'm essentially having the same issue detailed in this thread: www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/the-dropbox-app-cant-sync-one-file/441394 I've tried the solutions suggested there and saw some movement, but ultimately no resolution for the affected files. For more context, I have some files on a backup drive that date back to a previous machine that had some strange permissions defaults set up by an administrator (one of those machines was a student laptop I used), and while I can view, access, and modify files, Dropbox is unable to sync them. When I do "Get Info" and view individual permissions for each file, I can see that my login has Read & Write access, "everyone" has Read Only access, "staff" is also Read Only, and then there are 2 permissions anomalies I've been trying to figure out; There's a second "everyone" that has custom access, which I cannot remove, but I can modify it to Read Only. Then there's another user that just says "fetching" instead of a username, which I believe is an admin relic from the student laptop and the permissions settings therein. My current machine and all files created there do not have these permissions quirks, it's just old files from the student machine that show these added details. (I even asked the IT staff about it at the time, since they basically "unlocked" our student laptops once we graduated, but there were some messy ends left over that I assumed were the natural result of having 1 person having to answer to hundreds of students - probably not the ideal way things ought to run, but nothing anyone had the bandwidth to chase ghosts about.) So far, no changes in these particular file permissions settings within Finder is having any impact, and again, while the solutions in the thread I linked seemed helpful at first, ultimately there was no difference made for the affected files after I tried those tweaks for the Dropbox app and System Preferences. Anyone know anything that might help me resolve this issue and finally sync these files on Dropbox? Thanks!215Views0likes2Comments
