Dropbox Plan Plus Are you a Team Member or Admin? No. I own the account. There is no Admin, and there are no Team Members Do you have access to the email linked to the account? Yes Are there any devices connected to your Dropbox account? Not that I'm aware of. Question or Issue I created a new folder. It is not within another folder - when I click All Files, it shows at that level. Then I tried to Share it and I got the message below. I've never encountered this problem before when creating folders. What have I done wrong, and how can I create a new folder that I can share?53Views0likes4CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.244Views1like6CommentsExternal users cannot upload to a shared folder they have edit access to
Been trying to get this to work for many years but always give up and use a different service. On my company’s team dropbox I want to create a folder with the purpose of collaborating with outside vendors. I can create invites, confirm access with edit permissions for the outside person, and they can join no problem, but they only ever have download permissions and can’t upload anything to our folder. Am I missing some permission setting? The other method of using a File Request for them to upload something does work but isn’t ideal. These are the settings used for the most recent attempt:77Views0likes2CommentsCan we stop someone with access to a shared link from sharing it with other people?
Hi all, I have a problem with a specific Dropbox setting. I know that what I want to do should be possible, but unfortunately, I can't figure it out. That's why I need your help. It's about the following: I want to share files with clients using Dropbox. I don't want these clients to have to install Dropbox themselves, because we don't want to drive up extra costs for the clients. But I want to prevent the folder links from being made public or shared with people who aren't supposed to have access. How did I set this up? Inside Dropbox, I created a client folder Within this client folder are several subfolders In the LINK FOR VIEWING settings of the client folder and in the subfolders, I selected 'ANYONE WITH LINK' under 'Who can access', because the clients are not added as members in Dropbox. We don't send the links directly to the client, but we copy and paste the shared link into Webflow, where we have created a client page. The link refers to a specific folder on the client page The client has access to the client page. Logins are handled via Memberstack. Using the above, clients can log in to the client page and have access to their files. But what is the issue now? The client can copy the link from the folder and forward this link to someone who is not logged in to the client page. This other person can then use the link to gain access to the Dropbox folder. And that last part is exactly what we want to prevent. How can I prevent this? I have a Dropbox Business Plan and I am the admin. I hope anyone can help me out.79Views0likes6CommentsI joined a Dropbox team and now all my files are shared with them
I joined a professional team and it gave them access to all my personal folders and files. I didn’t realise that joining a team would do this, I assumed my folders would still only be accessible by me. I deleted the folders but when I tried to permanently delete the files it said I do not have permission. I do not have permission to delete my own folders and files????? Apparently it needs to be admin which is a colleague who I do not want to access the information.314Views0likes6CommentsIs the admin of a team account able to access the contents of all folders?
Hi, I am the bookkeeper of a business. We would like to upgrade Dropbox to Standard and make it more secure. We think the manager should be the admin and a user, and I should be a user. At present, Dropbox and all its folders are accessible to anyone who can access the computer. We would like that to remain the case for some folders, but other folders should be password protected. I have shared one folder with our accountant, which I use to upload information which should remain confidential from the manager. Is the admin able to access the contents of all folders, even if they are not shared with them? Can this be done in Dropbox Standard and if so, how please? Many thanks.78Views0likes3CommentsCan't remove my access from a shared folder since I don't have the option.
Question or Issue I want to remove my access from a shared folder, where I am an editor to save up space (without deleting the shared folder for anyone else). I followed the advice from here: https://help.dropbox.com/share/leave-shared-folder. The problem is that from "manage permissions", I don't have the dropdown menu, where I can click "remove my access" (I am KA on the screenshot). I tried this on my Dropbox windows app and also from the browser website but I still can't do it. When I select delete on the said folder, it only offers to delete the shared folder for everyone. Is there any way I can remove the shared folder for myself so that it stays for others? Thanks for any help.114Views0likes3CommentsMy password was changed by someone else
Ok, here is my story - looking for info and/or advice. My Xfinity email account has been hacked several times over the past year. The last time (5 months ago) and yesterday, the hackers were able to use the email account to gain access to my Dropbox account. Last time, I enabled 2-factor security in Dropbox with both a mobile authenticator app and physical security keys. Yesterday, my Dropbox password was hacked and changed... I knew it was happening because I was aware that my email was being hacked and was literally dealing with it as it was happening. I realized that my Dropbox password was changed and I immediately changed it again. I WAS asked for 2-factor verification using the mobile app. I might have been asked for the security key, too - I don't remember exactly as I was dealing with several things at once. Point is that I WAS asked for something 2-factor to authenticate and allow the password change to occur. What I find troubling is that "they" were able to change the password/gain access to my account with 2-factor in place... Isn't that the whole point of having 2-factor? A physical "key" which you must be in possession of in order to make certain changes to the account??? I chatted with Luis in Customer Support - absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER - basically stated "no idea how that happened" and said that the problem was probably my computer's security or that I had used public wifi... Public wifi never happened. I pressed him to escalate the case or forward it to a security team (does that even exist??). He asked to move the chat to email - I suspect as a way to get rid of me.. Any info / advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.Solved14KViews1like5Comments
