Permissions
8 TopicsI'd like to be able to change the permissions on all shared links at the same time.
import a feature that changes the permissions of all the shared links simultaneously I'm having a hard time changing the validity of each link, and it's really tiring. This feature would be a miracle for me, it would make things easier. I want all the links. Anyone with the link can watch the video, but unfortunately some links are team-only, and I have to change their validity for whoever has the link. I hope you make this feature available. I have thousands of links, and I have to change them all, and it's very tiring.257Views7likes6CommentsAllow us to see all the folders a user has access to and easily remove them from member.
Currently you can see who are the shared people in a folder or file. We need to be able to select a person and see the folders and files they have access to, and then obviously un-share from there. Not being able to manage this easily is a significant security risk.197Views3likes2CommentsRemove the delete ability from external user(s)
PLEASE allow us to restrict the ability of external users to delete files and folders in a shared folder. I just ran into an issue where a user, that had edit permission, deleted all of the files and folders in a shared folder. Allow us to restrict the ability to delete by users. Or change the view permission to upload files and folders. This seems so easy to do, yet it doesn't happen. If I'm missing a setting, please enlighten me. Thank you.187Views0likes5CommentsTemplates for folders and stored permissions
It would be greaty beneficial if Dropbox could store the permisions for a template folder. I currently have a new job folder(Template folder) that i have the accounting folder locked for only the sales and accounting teams. I would like when i copy this folder to have it remember the permissions for each folder. Multiple Jobs a day are set up and would appreciate not having to go through and limit every single subfolder. I saw this was a request 3 years ago and nothing was done. Please let me know if you need more clarification as I am happy to provide any information to get this done.156Views1like2CommentsRestrict access to folders within a shared folder
There is a real need for setting folder access restrictions within a shared parent folder. We have several folders shared across teams that occasionally requires specific subfolders to be limited to one team or select employees and there is not way to accomplish this without moving the subfolder to a completely separate parent folder, disrupting our workflows.140Views0likes4CommentsAdding more options for folder permissions aside from "Can edit" and "Can view"
Similarly to how local network drives allow for specific permissions, I wish Dropbox had more granular permissions other than Can View & Can Edit. For instance, a user in our company has been accidentally moving, duplicating, and in very rare instances, been deleting files and folders from other user's projects. Thankfully folder activity exists so we can see who was responsible and when it happened, but I would still love to be able to restrict users from doing certain actions in specific folders. Especially for those files you don't want deleted or moved.136Views0likes4CommentsPossibility to activate default expiration date for shared links.
I would like to have the option to set a default expiry date for links to shared files. Intention is to increase the security of my files. I sent email with Dropbox link to the file, but by default, the shared link is valid indefinitely. It would be better to set (i.e. 'Settings > Shared' section) ON/OFF 'set default expiration period for shared links'. I could choose from a dropdown 1-30 days for instance. It would be great to automate all sharing and increase security. I don't want my link to be active in someone's inbox(email) forever. And deactivation (unsharing) previously shared old links manually is a waste of time.122Views0likes3CommentsRestrict changes to top level folders while allowing changes to lower level folders
We have numerous incidents where a team member accidentally changes a high-level folder (rename, move, delete, etc) causing a cascade of sync problems and stalling the projects for hours. If certain folders could be restricted to read-only while still allow the child-folders to be editable by members, that would be extremely helpful.63Views0likes1Comment
