I use DropBox to support my hobbies including YouTube, sewing, embroidery and cosplay. DropBox is a fabulous resource for backing up files and ensuring I don't lose digital assets such as sewing patterns (PDF) and images of my fabric stash for planning purposes. Embroidery machines use fairly unique file types and DropBox does not support the following file types: .art, .dst, .exp, .hus, .jef, .pcs, .pes, .sew, .vip, .vp3, and .xxx. I'm unable to use DropBox to support my embroidery hobby to backup/centralize/organize these specific assets.25Views0likes2CommentsTurn Auto Play off for audio Files
Please add a way to stop audio files from playing instantly, as soon as you open them. On the Dropbox app, using an iPhone, the minute you open the file it starts playing. If you have previously played that audio file and paused it half way through, you can't stop it from playing in time to take it back to the start. We use Dropbox for our choir and keep our backing tracks and sheet music together. During a performance we need to make sure all the files have been returned to the start and we can't have them ready to go to press play.44Views0likes1CommentMake long filenames visible by wrapping onto additional lines
Please fix the Dropbox.com file display so that long filenames are visible by wrapping onto additional lines. On the Dropbox web app, long filenames are still truncated instead of wrapped. This is basic user interface behavior that has existed for a very long time. The File Requests section already does this correctly. The "file request name" column wraps long text to two or more lines, which proves the platform can support this. Please bring this behavior to regular file listings such as All Files. A file service should not require guessing, hovering or widening columns just to read a filename. This would be a simple change with a major usability benefit.29Views0likes1CommentPersistent Indicator for Files with Unresolved Comments
Currently, Dropbox shows a comment notification only when a comment is new or unread. Once the comment is read, the indicator disappears even if the comment is not resolved. This makes it hard to see which files still require attention. I would like Dropbox to introduce a persistent visual indicator (badge, icon, number, highlight, or any small marker) that appears whenever a file has unresolved comments, regardless of whether they have been read already. Why this matters: Teams use comments for review and approvals. After reading a comment, there is no quick way to see that the file still needs action. Users must open each file and check the comments panel to find unresolved comments. This leads to missed feedback and slower collaboration. How it could work: Show a small badge next to the file name in the file list when unresolved comments exist. In the file preview, show a subtle âunresolved commentsâ indicator even if all comments are read. User impact: This would help teams working with shared documents by making outstanding work visible at a glance, reducing mistakes and speeding up reviews.69Views1like1CommentLive stream capability from Dropbox
I have been doing more video lately. Facebook and Youtube are ok but DropBox has been convenient to share recorded video. Now my idea is this, to be able to share a pre-determined easy to use link, that a live stream event could be viewed. I understand the copyright issues; a live event you never know what music will be used or heard. SO, what can we do about it??? There is an app called MixCloud that is used for podcasts (live or pre-recorded) that does identify music and pays the pennies to copyright holders, so Facebook does not "flag" a production, something a little guy like me cannot do. However, Mixcloud will not do the live video copyright payments although I have suggested this to them! DropBox would be so popular with the video community if the live streaming could be done through your application but, the icing on the old chocolate cake would be the copyright ID and payment!48Views0likes1CommentDisplay the last modification date for folders in normal view.
Displaying the date of the last modification. The information is available because when you open the folder info, you can see the date of the last modification, but in normal view, it only shows the date of modification of the files, not the folders.63Views0likes1Comment
