how do I get rid of this frustrating pop up when sharing a link with a client? We're a paid dropbox business member and I get a tonne of clients telling me they cant access the files because of this popup. Needs to able to be switch this off. I pay to have ability to share files externally so either make it free and keep the pop up, or let me turn it off. Thanks, so this thread, but not locked - https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001014/remove-loginsignup-dialog-box-from-shared-link-download/757059#M82871512Views8likes9CommentsI'd like to be able to change the permissions on all shared links at the same time.
import a feature that changes the permissions of all the shared links simultaneously I'm having a hard time changing the validity of each link, and it's really tiring. This feature would be a miracle for me, it would make things easier. I want all the links. Anyone with the link can watch the video, but unfortunately some links are team-only, and I have to change their validity for whoever has the link. I hope you make this feature available. I have thousands of links, and I have to change them all, and it's very tiring.321Views7likes6CommentsAllow us to see all the folders a user has access to and easily remove them from member.
Currently you can see who are the shared people in a folder or file. We need to be able to select a person and see the folders and files they have access to, and then obviously un-share from there. Not being able to manage this easily is a significant security risk.294Views5likes4CommentsLocal links
Problem In our Dropbox Business account, we often need to share links to files or folders with colleagues who already have access and have Dropbox installed. Currently: When we use the “Share” feature, the link opens in the browser. This is inefficient when the user just needs to open the local file/folder, especially for deeply nested folders. Or worse, the person sends the file as an email, and now we have multiple versions and confusion about which is the "source of truth". Workaround: We have to manually send them the file path (e.g., /Users/bob/Dropbox/ProjectX/Report.docx), which: Requires the recipient to hunt it down in Finder/Explorer. Is error-prone due to path differences, renames, or accidental typos. Offers a worse user experience than comparable tools like Google Drive File Stream, which can open the file directly via a smart link from the web. Proposed Solution Introduce a new link format — .dropboxlink files — that can be double-clicked or opened to launch the Dropbox desktop app, which then opens the file or folder locally. How it might work: The link includes a Dropbox-relative path (e.g., /ProjectX/Report.docx). When opened, the Dropbox app: Resolves the correct local file path on that device. Brings the file into sync if it’s online-only (with options if needed). Opens the file in its native app or highlights it in Finder/Explorer. Key Benefits Faster collaboration: Opens files/folders locally with one click. Less error-prone than copying/pasting paths. Easier onboarding: Helps users avoid learning about aliases, sync paths, or browser UX differences. Reusable: These .dropboxlink files could be stored on desktops, added to docs, or included in readme files for onboarding. Design Considerations Security: Only opens if user has access. Device-aware: Dropbox app already tracks where the folder is located per device. Fallbacks: If the file is no longer available, provide a browser fallback or a “Request Access” flow. If offline or not synced, offer user-friendly prompts (e.g. “Make available offline”).619Views3likes1CommentHyperlinking to a certain page in a PDF file via Dropbox
Hi, It would be fantastic to be able to send out a hyperlink, to a certain page in a PDF. I have tried using hyperlink=#page=15 (for example) and a number of other approaches all unsuccessfully. This would be a really useful feature for dropbox. It would save me so much time. Thanks,337Views3likes3CommentsManually disable folder shareability for sensitive information
So the use case is based on the desire of having sensitive information on Dropbox and eliminating the possibilty of accidentally sharing it with someone. The idea is for an option to manually turn off shareability of a folder. That way I dont accidentally create a link in a flurry and send our finances to a customer. There are other cloud services I could use that do this just for that information but who needs more passwords to remember.65Views2likes1CommentView shared photos as a gallery
When I share a Dropbox link to a folder with photographs, the web link is not optimized for photo viewing on any platform (phone or desktop). The thumbnails are too small and compressed. And on a phone's web browser, users can swipe through individual photos, but it requires two separate taps, thereby quickly becoming cumbersome. I am suggesting the idea to have Dropbox photo folders appear as a dynamic, tiled gallery, much like on a dedicated iOS or Android app. Google Drive's photo gallery is a great example of how to implement such a feature on Dropbox.205Views2likes4CommentsRequest to Reinstate Transfer Link in Dropbox Notification Emails
Hi, I hope you’re doing well. This is not a new idea, but rather a request to reinstate a feature that previously existed and, unfortunately, was removed sometime last year. In the past, when I created a Transfer from a Dropbox folder or file, I would receive an email titled “New Transfer: File Name”. That email included the transfer link directly in a copyable text box. This was extremely helpful, as it allowed me to quickly copy and resend the link - especially when clients asked for it again days later, or when I was away from my computer and needed access via my phone and Gmail. Today, the notification email no longer includes the transfer link. Instead, it contains a “Manage Transfer” button, which opens a browser window outside the email app - and not even the Dropbox app itself, which I have installed on my phone. This extra step makes it much harder and less accessible to quickly retrieve and resend a transfer link, particularly on mobile devices. As a dedicated Dropbox user since 2009, I truly appreciate the product and rely on it heavily in my workflow. Reintroducing the shareable transfer link directly within the email - as it previously existed - would be a simple yet powerful improvement. It offered a fast, intuitive way to access transfer links without having to navigate through multiple windows or menus. Thank you very much for your time and for considering this request. Best regards, Khen71Views1like1CommentComment without Login
I'm sharing photos and videos, as well as production documents with clients and love to get their feedback on the specific file. However, many companies prohibit employees from generating their own Dropbox account, which is needed to comment on the files. How about just having to "sign up" with their Name and Email in order to get notifications? Would love to have an easier way to share files with clients and get their feedback as simple as possible.145Views1like1CommentBypass Request Permission to Join Folder on "anyone with the link can edit" folders
It would be helpful in certain situations to be able to bypass the the "request permission to join folder" prompt when sharing a folder via a anyone with the link can edit permission. We already set the link to be anyone with the link. If they have the link, I'd like them to be able to edit the folder. This is already how it behaves in individual accounts.233Views1like5Comments
