3 TopicsProblems with Getting DropBox Re-installed on my computer
I opened a discussion on this topic before but my Dropbox host has disappeared, so I need to start it again. Somehow several weeks ago, my computer (Windows 10) did an update and presented me with a splash screen for Dropbox. When I clicked on the screen, it installed a second application of Dropbox but I was unable to see my files (it was blank, empty). In fact I couldn't find them on my computer until I did a file explorer and found that a new Dropbox folder had been created labeled Dropbox(old)) and that folder had all my saved data. I have moved that folder to a separate hard drive for safe keeping while I try to re-established the Dropbox app on my computer. I believe I need to un-install Dropbox completely and re-install. Right now, I have in my file explorer file tree a lone Dropbox folder which when I click on it says Location Can't Found. BTW, I still have an account with Dropbox which is accessible through the weband is up-to-date as of the first restart. Is ther anyone who can lead me through the editing of the file tree and maybe cleaning up the registry (Yes, I still see Dropbox under SOFTWARE, WOW6432Node) Thanks in advance.3Views0likes0CommentsMy macOS system data is now 890GB after uninstalling Dropbox from my computer.
iMac 5K 27", 2020. macOS Sequoia 15.3. Was using Dropbox for File Providers, latest build I uninstalled Dropbox from this device yesterday. Deleted the dropbox folder The "system data" section of my macOS Settings panel for Storage is now in the 890 GB neighborhood. It's never this high. I've run a few other tools to get a feel for extraneous libraries, apps, caches, etc. but I can find no trace of what would be causing System Data to be almost half of the 2 TB capacity of the drive. It wasn't this high before I removed Dropbox, either. So I'm wondering if maybe I didn't correctly delete the files that were saved locally (few were online-only). 800GB is somewhere in the ballpark of how much Dropbox content I had stored locally. Is there a trick to getting rid of the File Provider version of Dropbox and all local copies of the files? It was significantly easier before the File Provider restrictions.62Views1like3CommentsAfter uninstall, and remove all Dropbox folders, space is not freed up on HD
Hello, I am hoping someone else can help with this. I've spent all day on chat support, and no help! After a long process, of trying to troubleshoot a problem with syncing, I was guided to remove my dropbox Folder from my HD and start fresh. I removed everything, including the hidden folders in ~/user/Library/ApplicationSupport After this, have restarted several times. The 132GB that was previously being used by Dropbox is still not freed up on my HD. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you!291Views0likes1Comment
