I can't uninstall Dropbox completely from my Mac

Application Affected Uninstall Device Asus H670-PRO MB Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (Unknown) Question or Issue While examining the system log I see two errors related to DbxSvc which I've found is a DropBox service. To troubleshoot the issue, I uninstalled DropBox. But to my surprise, the DbxSvc service is still installed and running. I have stopped and removed the service but the drives still reside on my system. I want a complete uninstall so I can perform a clean install. What is the cause and solution to these errors? What is the supported way to remove this leftover debris from my system, including all registry junk? The errors I am encountering are: The DbxSvc service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. A timeout was reached (45000 milliseconds) while waiting for the DbxSvc service to connect. Unlink Dropbox app version 2.3.5.10 from Android handset
Hello, I have an old android handset - HTC- One with Dropbox app version 2.3.5.10. I am unable to unlink device from Dropbox. A message occurs Error: ' you must be online to unlink. Check your connection or try again'. However, I am connected to WiFi. I can access the website on my other devices laptop and mobile, but the old handset is not listed on the basic Dropbox account I have. Appreciate if you can advise please. Thanks76Views0likes1Comment
Dropbox installation causing persistent issues on Debian
Regarding an issues raised across several other posts: Like this one And this one Dropbox installations can result in persistent system issues on Debian 13. In an attempt to save others some headache, here's a few details I found helpful while attempting to fix the issue. Note that Debian isn't supported by Dropbox. Here is their list of supported distros (Ubuntu & Fedora). Regrettably, I believe that means no official support for this issue. Dropbox installation on Debian 13 can cause issues when uninstalling and/or updating. Common remedies for this kind of issue, especially those targeted at Debian amateurs (like myself) are generally inapplicable. Trixie changed some apt features. "add-apt-repository -r" no longer works. Don't go down a rabbit hole trying to get it onto your Trixie install, it isn't meant to be there. Typical methods to remove or purge Dropbox won't work. They result in errors, or are ineffective. The final entry in this guide got me the best results. Applied to the dropbox issue, that meant (ls -l /var/lib/dpkg/info | grep -i dropbox) followed by (sudo mv /var/lib/dpkg/info/dropbox.* /tmp). After this, I could get purge to correctly resolve. Is there a way to stop using the File Provider version of the Dropbox app?
I have an M1 Mac Mini with Dropbox installed since Monetary, and I think it automatically started using File Provider, because it installed the DB folder in Cloudstorage. I just got a Macbook Air, running Ventura. I downloaded and installed Dropbox on the Air, and it asked if I wanted to use File Provider. I selected No, and it installed the DB folder in my User folder, which is great. I prefer this, since there are issues with using File Provider. I wanted to do the same on my Mac Mini, so I upgraded my Mini to Ventura. Then I thoroughly uninstalled Dropbox (I needed to use Terminal to get rid of the DB folder from the Cloudstorage folder), restarted my computer, installed Dropbox again, but it automatically installed using File Provider, putting the darn DB folder in the darn Cloudstorage folder again. Ugh! It's like some preferences were still on my computer, but nowhere I can think to look. I did remove the DB folder from Application Support as well. I also checked Activity Monitor as well to make sure nothing DB was running. Bottom line: How can I revert back to NOT using File Provider, and not having the DB folder in the Cloudstorage folder? I know it's possible not to use File Provider in Ventura 13.6.1 because this is happening right now on my M1 Macbook Air running the same exact OS as my Mini. I can't configure the Dropbox app on Ubuntu 24.04
Hi, I am required to use Dropbox for work on an Ubuntu 24.04 system, which is apparently supported as "Ubuntu 22.10 or higher" I followed the instructions at https://www.dropbox.com/install-linux and it installed and logged me in successfully, and a Dropbox icon appeared in the top bar. It then began syncing all folders with hundreds of GB of data, it wants to copy the entire company Dropbox to my local system. Clicking the Dropbox icon does nothing, it does not respond. I am unable to stop the sync, and unable to configure Dropbox. Uninstalling Dropbox following the instructions at https://help.dropbox.com/installs/uninstall-dropbox failed to stop Dropbox actually running, now there is a zombie process that is still trying to sync hundreds of GB of data to my laptop. I am running the latest version of Ventura on Mac. After being a long time fan of dropbox, I decided to stop using it after having problems with the syncing function and the way it would move files around. Even after deleting the application, dropbox remains in "login items" underneath "Allow in the background." When starting up my mac, I get a notification message that dropbox wants to work in the background. How can I completely remove dropbox from my Mac? I would appreciate any help. Removing Dropbox from my computer is proving to be a nightmare. My computer Operating system is Windows 10. I have managed to un sync from my account and deleted all the folders concerned in my Dropbox account. On my computer the Dropbox folder is located C:\Users\dough\Dropbox and it contains a "PC" folder in which contains Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. Whenever I uninstall or delete the Dropbox folder I lose all the content from those folders Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. I have no need for Dropbox and wish to remove it completely from my computer, would you please explain to me how to do this. I would appreciate it very much. I'm having problems with Dropbox on my PC running Windows 10. I need to uninstall and reinstall but nothing I try allows me to uninstall Dropbox.
