I'm having problems with Dropbox on my PC running Windows 10. I need to uninstall and reinstall but nothing I try allows me to uninstall Dropbox. I tried the traditional ways and got the 'uninstallation failed' prompt every time. I also went into the Program folder and tried the Dropbox Uninstaller app there. Didn't work. What else might I try?4.7KViews0likes16CommentsCan't open the desktop app and getting an error when trying to uninstall
Hi Guys, Been having troubles with getting dropbox open thats sent me down a rabbit hole four hours. I'm essentially experiencing the exact same issue the user in this forum is experiencing: Can't seem to be able to uninstall Dropbox | The Dropbox Community I'm seeing an event in EventViewer whenever the DbxSvc restarts: Failed to connect to the driver: (-2147024894) The system cannot find the file specified. , retrying... Uninstalling Dropbox will get to about 70% of the way before freezing indefinitely. Tried a manual uninstall using RevoUninstall which clears out all files and registry items, although I have to kill Explorer.exe and dllhost.exe before doing so as it keeps getting stuck on a DLL file. Tried reinstalling, the installation will often say failed or get stuck so I have to go and manually clear new files again. Went to try and install via MS Store, which works fine, but doesn't I can see in that last forum DropBox ended up speaking with the user directly, is anyone on dropboxes team able to tell me what the outcome was?Solved86Views0likes6CommentsI want to delete dbkextd, but I'm unable to uninstall Dropbox from my macOS 15.3.1.
Tried to follow steps to uninstall DroBox from my MacBook Pro 16 running iOS 15.3.1. Received notification that DroBox is still running and can't be unistalled? How do I resolve this? I am following these steps to uninstall the Dropbox desktop app completely (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/uninstall-dropbox) and then continue with the advanced reinstallation steps (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall). Congratulations Dropbox! You've just put the nail in the coffin of all W7 users who prefer not to be spied on and constantly used for data scraping! Well done. If the constant scaremonger nagging about running out of space, the constant begging to upgrade, the incessant app updating demands, the constant USB device interrogation upon connection wasn't enough of an incentive to finally ditch Dropbox for good, then the cutting off of users of a still perfectly good and functional, non-spyware infested OS will be the last straw. Thank you Dropbox for giving me the incentive to go to your competitors instead and get out of your ever more bloated crapware ecosystem. Sometimes, people need a little push to get away from what's comfortable and familiar, even though they suspect just how bad that relationship is for them. I thank you Dropbox for giving me this little push. Goodbye.7.5KViews9likes28Comments2017 iMac Ventura stuck in "connecting components" after trying to upgrade to new file system
I was prompted to upgrade to the new file system, so I did. It said it would take 5 minutes... I've tried re-installing so many times. Deleting the library application support folder, deleting the app. My files are not on my computer and now i have no dropbox folder. It just says "Connecting Components" permanently. Please help!Solved71Views0likes4CommentsInstall Error 1073741795 on 2 different computers.
Hello, To Computers in an Office were suddenly not opening Dropbox. They are both on Windows 11. There is a 3rd PC in the Office that is the same as 1 of the problem ones, and its working fine. I tried to uninstall the apps from them, but both said "Uninstall Failed". I ended up having to manually wipe and use a Program to find and force full removal to start fresh. I did a DISM and SFC, then a CHKDSK. I proceeded to reinstall, and both get an error code unknown error (Error: -1073741795). I tried to use download and user the Full Installer Version. Nothing. To help with any conflicts, I did a clean boot. Nothing. I can seem to install anymore. They are AIO PC's, one is a Lenovo, the other a HP. As mentioned, there is a 3rd PC that is the same HP Model, and Dropbox works fine. I can't seem to find straight answers on how to resolve this, I am supporting someone else, so don't know how that will go since I have to pay for a subscription to get live support. Don't know how to proceed, so I hope a community member knows exactly whats up and how to resolve this.127Views0likes7CommentsUnlink Dropbox on laptop and relink to another account (OSX)
I am logged into a dropbox account on my laptop (desktop app) and should leave this account to connect to an other account. When I sign out of the first account under preferences in the desktop app, the app closes. When opening the app again, I'm automatically logged into the same account again. How can I connect to the second account? Even de-installing and re-installing the desktop app did not fix this. Any idea why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks for all your input, TomSolved242Views0likes6CommentsUnable to launch the desktop app on Windows 10
So I have had the same problem I see listed elsewhere. All of a sudden I am unable to launch the desktop app. If I uninstall and reinstall, it will work that one time. I saw instructions that required use of the registry editor for advanced reinstallation. IS THAT REALLY DROPBOX’S SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM?! That is truly crazy and unacceptable. If there is a less invasive solution, I would love to hear it.173Views0likes1CommentIs there a way to stop using File Provider?
I have an M1 Mac Mini with Dropbox installed since Monetary, and I think it automatically started using File Provider, because it installed the DB folder in Cloudstorage. I just got a Macbook Air, running Ventura. I downloaded and installed Dropbox on the Air, and it asked if I wanted to use File Provider. I selected No, and it installed the DB folder in my User folder, which is great. I prefer this, since there are issues with using File Provider. I wanted to do the same on my Mac Mini, so I upgraded my Mini to Ventura. Then I thoroughly uninstalled Dropbox (I needed to use Terminal to get rid of the DB folder from the Cloudstorage folder), restarted my computer, installed Dropbox again, but it automatically installed using File Provider, putting the darn DB folder in the darn Cloudstorage folder again. Ugh! It's like some preferences were still on my computer, but nowhere I can think to look. I did remove the DB folder from Application Support as well. I also checked Activity Monitor as well to make sure nothing DB was running. Bottom line: How can I revert back to NOT using File Provider, and not having the DB folder in the Cloudstorage folder? I know it's possible not to use File Provider in Ventura 13.6.1 because this is happening right now on my M1 Macbook Air running the same exact OS as my Mini. DB version is also the same on both computers (187.4.5691)2.6KViews0likes4CommentsHow to completely uninstall the Dropbox desktop app from my Mac OS
I indicated with a click a year ago that I might like to try a free trial of Dropbox. I tried it, I hated it, and I can't get rid of the damned invasive and intrusive program. Upon opening my MacBook Air, the entire display is covered with Dropbox folders and pop ups screaming that my life would be fulfilled if I tried this or that Dropbox feature. Getting all this Dropbox crap off my screen takes several clicks to close the home screen and the several subscreens and popups blocking my screen. AND: I've searched everywhere on the Dropbox website, and I can't find even the tiniest hint of how to delete the app, or disable it, or block it, or send it to where the sun don't shine. HELP ME OUT OF THIS INTRUSIVE DROPBOX HELL!323Views0likes1Comment
