When I open some of my company's Excel files, Dropbox's badge indicates my coworker is viewing and/or has unsaved changes. But looking at his PC, he doesn't have Excel open and the Excel lock files are not in the directory with the original files. Any suggestions?Solved9.2KViews1like14CommentsPrevent File Sharing
I have Dropbox Plus and it has come to my attention that the link I sent to one individual was copied and sent to an individual I did not give access to. That individual is able to view my documents without my permission. How do I prevent this from happening?Solved5.8KViews0likes9CommentsIPhone X Videos Shot in High Efficiency (HEIC) Format are Blank with Sound
There are other similar threads about this but I'm starting a new one because this issue is still not fixed and it should be becasue users rely on Dropbox to serve their most precious information - family photos and video 🙂 When backing up the iOS photo library to Camera Uploads any video shot using the High Efficiency (HEIC) format in iOS cannot be played on the web or any HTML5 player. There is sound but no video. If I was to copy the same video from my iPhone directly to my computer the video is able to be played so the issue is during the Camera Uploads process. I have built desktop applications that allow users to browse their entire Dropbox directory, play and share videos and now their libraries (including mine) are full of blank videos. Please resolve this issue.4.6KViews0likes5CommentsWill someone receive a notification when I add new files to the shared folder?
I created a folder, added some files and shared it with a friend. He received notification and viewed the files. I have now deleted those files from the folder and added some new ones. Will this automatically notify him of the change or must I do something?3.7KViews0likes3CommentsHow do I disable Sign Up pop-up when sharing links?
I cannot believe that as a paid Dropbox customer, people I share links with get a giant full screen popup pushing them to sign up for Dropbox that they have to close out before they can view the link contents. This is so confusing for those who click on my shared links, not to mention tacky AF. Where can I disable this? This is kind of pushing me over the edge to finally cancel my Dropbox account. It's THAT infuriating. This is what people see on mobile when I share a link to a folder with them:3.1KViews5likes4CommentsIssues with online only files/folders
I had a problem where my (Windows desktop) dropbox was stuck syncing 43 files for 2 days meaning nothing else was synced up or down during. On another thread I found the suggestion to sign out and sign in again. Which I did. And that did fix that problem. But I was left with a different problem. I now cannot automatically open any file which is currently "online only". I am told it is corrupted, unavailable or cannot be accessed by the system depending on the type of file it is. This applies to every online file I have tried - of numerous types and sizes. Every file has opened without issue if I manually set it to "make available offline" first, but that is a pain and was not necessary previously. This did not happen before I signed out and in again. Online files were automatically downloaded and opened. How do I get back to the behaviour again? Similarly I do not have a "Make online-only" on the right click menu. I know some of these feature have been removed from preferences, but the online help says this right-click option is still present and the features pages strongly imply you can choose to make something online only. So how do I get that option back?Solved2.9KViews0likes11CommentsIndividual user having trouble uploading documents to a Corporate Dropbox account
Hi, I have a free individual Dropbox membership. I'm a member of a local Rotary Club that has a Corporate Dropbox account. I'm able to access documents in the Rotary drop box (e.g. view documents, download document). However, I have not been able to upload documents into the Rotary Dropbox. I keep getting the error message that I need to upgrade my account to increase my storage. I've uploaded documents to other Corporate Dropbox accounts before without having to have a paid membership. any ideas why I'm having trouble with the Rotary Dropbox? Thanks,Solved2.2KViews0likes4CommentsSync icon missing in finder
Hi, I use to see sync icons in the finder on my mac. Now the dropbox app on my computer is not showing these icons, so it's very hard to tell what is synced locally versus what is synced online only. Did dropbox do away with these tools? Also, did the dropbox app change? It now feels like it's just buried in my finder, whereas it use to be a stand alone application.Solved2.1KViews0likes6CommentsGreen checkmark with white background explanation
I have seen the official meaning: "A circle with a green border and a green checkmark means that a file was opened (directly or with a third-party application) and synced," but what does that mean in contrast to: "A solid green circle with a white checkmark means your file is synced and available offline"? If I want a set of files to be both available online and offline, shouldn't that result in a solid green icon? Why are most "A circle with a green border and a green checkmark" and only a couple solid green? I thought maybe it had to do with opening the file on the same device or perhaps opening it on another device, but it made no difference to which files are assigned a solid green background versus white. I'm very confused.1.9KViews0likes4Comments
