Hello! Today for the first time there was a problem with deleted files, which I can't fix. After downloading a file from Dropbox on my iPhone, I wanted to delete it. As always, I used the "delete" option on it, but I noticed that instead of a single file, the entire folder had disappeared. I immediately went to the Recover Files option and restored the entire folder. The problem is that only a few files (232 MB) were restored, while most of the 3 GB disappeared! They are not in the files to restore and my Dropbox shows 4.3 GB instead of the previous 7 GB. Help, what to do?Solved56Views0likes9CommentsI need help restoring my files, and the active ticket isn't processing.
On Monday (2/3/25) I accidentally deleted a very large and crucial to my livelihood folder. I immediately reached out to Dropbox chat support and got a couple of different answers as to what I can do. My account tier holds deleted files for 180 days. So I was pretty calm when they told me a simple "rewind" would restore the files. Without going into days and hours of details, here's how things are playing out: The process was immediately not working. I was escalated to the "advanced team". I was assured by someone named Jared, that all was fine and under control. I had to wait for the current rewind attempt to be either successful or fail and then he or his team would help with the next steps. Nothing happened for a couple days...DAYS. By all accounts, this rewind process should take a few-to-several hours. During this time, not follow-ups and no replies to "Jared" and the advance team. Thursday (2/6/25) I got an automated email saying that me rewind attempt has failed (and this this is normally a one-time occurrence), and I should return to the folder and try to rewind again. It seemed to be working....then during the night last night (hours later) it stalled. It's been all day now (2/7/25) and the rewind has not picked up again. At present I have a fraction of my files again. I am losing income with every day that this restoration service (which we pay for) isn't working. Customer service is not replying, if they do, I get the typical "copy and pasted" replies. CAN ANYONE HELP? I need my files restored TONIGHT. ticket number (current ticket, there have been a couple this week): #2474429632Views0likes5CommentsLost access to email associated with a Dropbox account that I haven't signed in it for 6-7 years.
I wish to recover my Dropbox account that I created when I was around 13 years old. It has a number of my childhood photos and other important files uploaded to it and I would really like to get access to that account again. Unfortunately I have since changed devices and phone numbers and I don't have access to the email I used to create the account. Google can't help me recover my account because they don't have enough information to prove that it's mine, so I can't reset my password on there and thus not on Dropbox either. I have tried all the options both Dropbox and Google have to offer me but to no avail. I haven't logged in to that account in probably 6-7 years but I would really like to get those files back, they mean a lot to me emotionally. Can someone please help me? I am willing to do anything at this point.24Views0likes2CommentsMy files are gone since my account was over quota, and now I can't locate them.
I am a hard-working individual barely making ends meet…and use free Dropbox storage to save very important docs like children’s medical records, bills and other things I don’t want to lose. I can’t afford to PAY to store these and ran out of space. Cleared up space by manually deleting files but then-poof- 100s of files that I thought were “saved” (never got any error messages or anything saying they weren’t) are missing from Dropbox! I can’t talk to anyone, email or communicate in any way with someone bc I can’t PAY to do it. My files/folder are Not in deleted files, not on dropbox.com, just gone. I’ve been “saving” files for months and they are now gone. Also, word docs were wiped clean. Unbelievable and I can’t believe we don’t have better consumer protection from companies that can just wipe documents clean and delete them at their own discretion. AND can’t talk to ANYONE at this “trusted” company about it. Why should I have to pay (by upgrading) to get help and is there fine print somewhere saying Dropbox can just start deleting everything? Never again will I use them21Views0likes2CommentsHow see when files were deleted?
How do I see precisely WHEN files were deleted? I just received an email saying I "recently" deleted 1000+ files from Dropbox. I need to know WHEN they were deleted, to know if error or not. Looking at deleted files in Dropbox online, I can't tell.11Views0likes3CommentsFiles maliciously deleted. How can I restore them?
Yesterday (1/31/25) a terminated employee deleted 50 files out of various Dropbox folders before we could remove his access. We need help recovering those files. Despite the Help instructions we consulted there is NO link or other area where we have found these deleted files. Not new to Dropbox but new to the community. Hello to all and thanks for patience as I am sure someone likely asked this question before.Solved27Views0likes3CommentsAll files are gone. I don't even have a file in my account.
I state that I have always logged into my account for no more than 9 months, and I find myself with full space warning notifications from 7 months ago including from the access history shows a login just 7 months ago. Now I find myself with not even a file, practically 2 gb of files gone and with the deleted file history empty. Support impossible to contact, and no reason for how they disappeared. Has this happened to anyone? Is it possible to recover something?30Views0likes1CommentAll files Dropbox in my personal account, were entirely deleted by Dropbox.
This is stunning and insult to injury Dropbox is a brick wall and provides no way to contact them for customer support. I opened the files Saturday and was very confused to see only prompts for tutorials on starting using DropBox. There is nothing I perceive in deleted files, etc. I unfortunately had not saved my computer in past 6 months or so. Very upset and shocked. There were interviews with a woman then in her 80s about her experience during WWII. She has since died. I also lost the last version of my book I based on her experience. Any help in restoring these files would be greatly appreciated.69Views1like13CommentsMy files are missing. How can I recover them?
Hi there, I missed a large amount of files in a few folders (photos and videos mostly) from my Dropbox. I have them synced to my Macbook. I didn't delete any of them and this morning they just disappeared. I checked the the "Events" page on Dropbox web, and there was no indication that I moved or deleted my files. There were not in trash either. Please help!1.8KViews1like28Comments
