2624 TopicsHow to share a Dropbox File or Folder with a Short URL
I would like to make some files stored in my Dropbox, downloadable from a web page. For this reason, I would like to be able to create Short URL's for each file. I have read the following tutorial but it seems to be old: http://www.ampercent.com/link-to-dropbox-files-folders-short-url/6215/ Could you advise me please? Thanks.Solved202KViews3likes28CommentsWhy does a dl.dropboxusercontent.com download link behave differently?
A friend and I share mp3 files through dropbox though I use dropbox.cm and he uses dl.dropboxusercontent.com. The link I send him looks and behaves differently than the one he sends me. He gets a button to download the file while his link opens Windows Media Player and I must go through a few more steps to download the file. This is non-copyrighted material, by the way. The only way to get his link when clicked is to add a suffix with the characters - ?dl=0 to the end of the link. What gives with this?Solved199KViews10likes22CommentsHow to Leave a Shared Folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Thanks!Solved187KViews1like12CommentsHow do I embed images with a direct link from Dropbox?

I want to allow a third party to upload a file once a month. Does this person need to be a member? Can I give a link to the folder? Is that all I'd need to do? Would the 3rd party be able to see everything in this folder? Should I make a folder just for this person to upload to it 1x per month?Solved143KViews1like15CommentsHow to download large files and folders from Dropbox
I am using dropbox desktop to upload a bunch of files for clients. Each client has a folder created for them, and in that folder are files that are up to roughly 10gb in size. The client and I are not sharing back and forth, all they need to do is download the files in that folder once. I would assume that most of my clients are not dropbox members, and are trying to download with the web client. On the web client, there is a download button so they can download the contents of that folder. However, everyone who tries to download the files get the same message: "file is too large to download". On any given day, I could have up to 5 people trying to download thier files from me. Is there a limit on how much storage can be downloaded in a day? How can I get my files to my clients?Solved130KViews3likes11CommentsHow do I upload a file to someone else's Dropbox account?
I need to upload a file to the Dropbox of another user. I did not have an account, but in the process of trying to do this, I opened one. The other user sent me a link to his Dropbox, but I don't think it was an actual "request" for files-- it says I have the right to edit his folder. I have tried to upload my file from a flash drive to his folder about 15 times. Each time, the screen says the file is "uploading" and there is a bar showing the progress--but then the entire thing disappears and the folder is still empty. Questions: (1) is this because he did not send me a file request, but just a link that gives me access to edit files in his Dropbox? (2) is this because my own account does not have enough space for the large file? (3) something else? This is very frustrating and I am about to give up and just make a copy of the file onto another flash drive and put it in the mail.Solved114KViews2likes6CommentsShared Link / "scl" to "s"
Hello. My question concerns my recent issue with file sharing. Usually, my links were generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/s/'. However, lately, every file is being generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/'. Do you know a way to restore the old way of generating links? I just need old way of links, because game can't read new links Greet 😛Solved104KViews14likes211Comments
