I am on Windows 11, latest release and my Dropbox is also stuck on updating. The Dropbox version is the same. I am also receiving an error that I have not received before. I have stopped SnagIt, but in order to stop Windows Explorer, I would have to restart my PC.2.9KViews0likes11CommentsWhat is the best way to upgrade to Mac Sonoma and Dropbox File Provider?
So been avoiding making any changes for over a year now since things have been working relatively well with the Old Dropbox on two Macs running OS Ventura 13.5, even with the issues around online-only files. But really want to get my Macs on the current version (Sonoma 14.5), which I think means I have to upgrade to Dropbox File Provider. Having read lots of horror stories, wondering is there's a simple tutorial for doing this with the least amount of headaches. Or any tips anyone who has done it can offer. Like should I upgrade the OS first, or upgrade to FP on the current OS first? I am on a Dropbox Plus plan if that matters. Thanks.2.7KViews0likes20CommentsI got an alert that Dropbox wants to modify something in my MacOS
When logging into my Mac, I got an alert that an attempt by "Dropbox, Inc" to modify something in my system, was blocked, and that I should open the "Security&Privacy" in my System Preferences to enable it. Indeed, I found there a message 'System software from developer 'Dropbox, Inc.' was blocked from loading. I can't find any hint that this is really coming from Dropbox, or what modification would actually be performed, if I would allow this, and therefore keep it blocked. How can I find out, whether this was not a fishing attempt, but legally came from Dropbox? I also would like to find out, what this changes would actually do.Solved2.1KViews0likes11CommentsCan't update to file provider version
M2 MacBook Air Sonoma 14.1 Dropbox asks about the update, I start the process. When it gets to the "give dropbox permissions" part, dropbox already has permissions set, I click OK...dropbox immediately quits and restarts, I login, back to regular version of Dropbox with the option to try file provider. Same thing every time I try. I have rebooted several times, and reinstalled Dropbox twice. No change.Solved1.9KViews0likes8CommentsHow to delete old Dropbox Update Logs
Every so often Dropbox updates itself, which is good, mostly. It also makes a log of its updates, which is good, mostly. Unfortunately, I now have 1,994 old update logs on my C: drive, dating back to 24-07-2020, and every time I use a malware scanner every one of these logs is summoned to give evidence, which is not good, all the time. I am able to trim the rubbish on other software collections, but Dropbox insists that only the owner can delete its logs, and won't tell me which entity is the owner. FWIW, I've used Dropbox far longer than 4 years, and I was able to delete all logs dated prior to 24-07-2020 with no noticeable untoward catastrophes happening. I would like to not only save time on the malware scans, but also put the 82.5 megabytes to better use. Maybe we only need the last 5 logs as a fall-back measure? So, who is the "owner"? And, would taking ownership of 1,900 old logs injure the Dropbox install?Solved1.8KViews0likes7CommentsDropbox mobile app loading forever after re-subscribing to Plus plan
Hello. I was subscribing to Plus plan, through Google Play Store. I didn't renew for almost 2 months. Yesterday, March 15, 2023, I re-subscribed to the same plan (Dropbox Plus), also from Google Play Store, and subscription is done successfully, and I received a payment receipt in my email from Google. In the Subscriptions section, in Google Play Store, I see a message (in red) saying: "Confirm Plan", and I should do that by opening the app on my phone. I did that and the app is loading forever with no progress (as shown in the screenshot). I uninstalled Dropbox, and re-installed it again, with no changes. Still loading since yesterday and nothing happens!!! Customer service here is bad to reach!!!. Auto-chat doesn't help at all. I need this problem to be solved as soon as possible. Does anyone know what the hell is this??!! Thanks in advance for helping. EmadSolved1.8KViews0likes6CommentsCan't update to File Provider on Mac OS: some file types not supported.
I'm seeing in the Preferences -> Sync that I cannot use Dropbox for macOS on FIle Provider on one of my computers. I'm trying to figure out why it works on some computers and not others. The message says: Following the "Learn more" link leads me to an article that points out that Photos libraries, Final Cut projects and Logic Pro projects can't be synced with File Provider. But, I don't think I have any of those. The closest I come is a directory named "Photos" but it is not a Photos Library. Also, that directory appears on other computers with very similar specs (OS, architecture) to the machine in question. But, those computers use File Provider just fine. Any hints? How can I determine which files it is complaining about?1.8KViews0likes14CommentsLatest Dropbox update making my MAC really slow
I installed the new Dropbox update yesterday on my iMac which is running MacOS Monterey, and everything is now lagging. Even as I type, the letters don't appear straight away. Is this likely to be a temporary thing while Dropbox relocates all my files, or a bigger problem that I need to sort out? Could do without it! Advice would be gratefully received. Thank you.Solved1.7KViews0likes3Comments
