18 TopicsRetain folder structure when using Camera Uploads on mobile app
Backing up photos on mobile dumps them all into one 'Camera Uploads' folder. The expected behavior is that the photos uploaded will stay in their own folders. This should at the very least be a toggle option. Every other Dropbox Backup solution retains folders, so why are photos any different? You even select the folders to upload from when setting this up, so the functionality is a step away. Pretty jarring UX from an otherwise great service.196Views6likes4CommentsTurn off email notifications for file request uploads.
Hi there. We run a community radio station, and people are constantly uploading new audio files to us, so our email account is getting bombarded with notifications every time a new file arrives. We check our Dropbox account regularly, so these notifiations are completely unnecesssary, and we would like to have the option of turning them off. I looked through the Dropbox forums, and it appears as though other users have been requesting this feature for many years, but you still haven't implemented it! Can you pleae take this into consideration?285Views5likes4CommentsDropbox Replay: Editable naming conventions for file uploads and downloads
I would like to suggest an option to customize the naming conventions for file uploads and downloads on Dropbox Replay. Currently, file uploads retain the name of the original file. Example: if I uploaded "coolvideo_v1" and added a new version named "coolvideo_v2," the Dropbox Replay file would retain the original "coolvideo_v1" name until I manually rename it. On the flip side, file downloads that have a version history add on the version number to the end of the downloaded file. Example: if I had named a file "coolvideo_v2a" but it was listed as version 3 in the version history, the downloaded file would be named "coolvideo_v2a_v3" on my computer. This confuses the communication between our photographers/videographers and our DAM managers. Could we add an option to edit the naming convention rules on Dropbox Replay? Custom naming conventions are already a part of Dropbox when it comes to File Request links. Let's get this added to Dropbox Replay!277Views4likes6CommentsMake Dropbox compatible with Linux ARM processors
When I searched for this, I found this suggested several months ago for the purpose of Raspberry Pis. That suggestion was closed for inactivity. I had been using Dropbox in my Linux virtual machines on Mac with Intel processors for quite a long time. I just got my first Mac machine with Apple Silicon and was so disappointed this didn't work in the Linux VM on the ARM64. I depend on ability to share between the Virtual Machine and other devices connected to Dropbox for several of my workflows, and currently must use the Dropbox website to download, make my change, delete the online copy, then upload it again while in the Linux Virtual Machine. And hey, it sounds like adding this would help the Raspberry Pi folks too!56Views3likes2CommentsImperative: Camera Uploads Update
Hello. Can you please make it so that people are able to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" without it cancelling the automatic uploads after doing so and also make it so that people can simultaneously upload files from multiple albums in their device into separate folders on Dropbox? This will make it far easier everyone to organize everything, especially when sharing the folder(s) with others. Point 1: As of right now, if someone were to change the name of the "Camera Uploads" folder to something else, let's say to "Andrew's Content," the automatic uploads will completely cancel future automatic uploads into that folder and create a whole entire new folder, again named "Camera Uploads," resulting in 2 separate folders which is inefficient, can lead users to become very confused, and what can be seen as an error in the algorithm from my point of view. Point 2: If a business has multiple people sharing their "Camera Uploads" folder to them, that business has no way to distinguish between which "Camera Uploads" folder belongs to whom, nor is the business able to change the name of the folder for themselves on their end. This is a major problem. Point 3: When people want to set up automatic uploads from multiple albums in their phone named, let's call them 'Content 1,' Content 2,' and 'Content 3,' and have them saved in either the same and/or separate folders in Dropbox, they can't because it is not even a feature. Can you please look into this and make these, what I think would be very beneficial quality of life, updates? Thank you so much for your time and consideration! Thank you, Andrew236Views3likes5CommentsAllow uploaders to add comments or descriptions with File Requests
Summary I'd love to see an option for people uploading files via a Dropbox File Request to include a short comment or description with their upload. Why this matters This would be incredibly helpful for providing context — especially when receiving files from multiple people (like resumes, signed forms, or project files). Right now, there’s no way for the uploader to explain what the file is about, and that can lead to confusion or extra follow-up. How it could work During the file upload process, there could be an optional text field where the sender can briefly explain the file's purpose, content, or any special notes. Benefits Easier file organization Less follow-up needed to clarify uploads Improved collaboration, especially for teams or clients submitting documents I think it would make File Requests even more powerful and user-friendly.142Views2likes2CommentsTimecode offset
When working on longform projects (feature films) it's pretty common to upload scenes/sections that have embedded timecode. Currently every dropbox replay comment starts at 0:00.000. It'd be very helpful (especially for comment export) to have a timecode offset for each uploaded file. So if I'm uploading a section of a film that starts at timecode 02:10:11:18, for example, the comments will begin at that timecode rather than at 00:00:00:00 Ideally, dropbox replay could reference the timecode embedded in the uploaded files to find this offset, or even read a portion of the screen (often timecode is embedded in the image) to figure out the offset. But even having a manual offset would be lovely.58Views1like1CommentAdd "starred folders" option to “Save to Dropbox” menu on iOS.
I use Dropbox a lot, every single day at work. I have to upload plenty of photos from my phone (iOS). And every time, when I choose photos, than “Save to Dropbox”, and now I have to choose folder from the very beginning of structure….every time. (3 recent folders doesn’t help really well because every time I have to upload to a different folder). so, it will be great, I’ll make you a Monument if you add a least “starred” folder to the “Share menu” (for example: at the very top “Starred folders”, than “Recent”, than the rest…) or, if it hard to perform with “starred” folders…let’s do another “marker”…any. just please give us an opportunity of quick access to chosen folders. Me and my crews will really appreciate it, now lots of guys who experience the same pain😆 Thank you in advance!155Views1like2Comments
