1126 TopicsTrying to upload very large files (300GB) via the desktop app.
uploading very large files I have tried to upload a 300GB file to dropbox (I have 1TB capacity) using the Mac desktop application and I am being informed that there isn't enough free space. I bought this extra memory as dropbox write:"Files uploaded to Dropbox via the desktop application or mobile apps have no file size limit". Am I doing something wrong?Solved47KViews0likes12CommentsBest way to prevent Mac from going into sleep mode while uploading new files via the desktop app?
Hi everyone, I need to transfer several hundred GB to my online storage. What is the best way to keep the computer running, but without keeping the screen active? I would like to have it work overnight, but without wearing out the screen. Setting the brightness to the lowest level might be a solution? Alternatively, I could leave it working every time I'm at the computer, but this could take one or more weeks, which I would like to avoid. Thanks to those who want to share their experience.5.8KViews0likes5CommentsRidiculously slow upload speeds both when using the desktop app, and website.
I've tried uploading through the website and using the windows app. In both cases I'm lucky if i get 1/100 of what my actual upload limit is. I'm trying to upload about 4gb worth of files and it's saying its going to take 2+ days because it's uploading at 20kbps. Even comcast is faster then this. I've already set the app to use unlimited bandwith and it hasn't helped. Dropbox is pretty easy to use, but if this is the fastest I can upload, dropbox is going to get dropped.Solved31KViews5likes86CommentsSuddenly slow upload speeds when using the desktop app on and the website.
As of today, I am getting incredibly slow upload speeds. It is currently maxing out at about 50kb/s and most of the time it is lower. I typically get 5+mb/s. Nothing on my end has changed and it was working fine just a few days ago. I’ve already seen multiple help threads talking about bandwidth limits but I have my account set to unlimited. Problem is consistent whether I use the desktop app or web browser. Any suggestions? Most of the other threads I can find are from a year or more ago and don’t end in conclusive fixes.Solved11KViews1like16CommentsFTP server setup in Dropbox. How to set-it up?
Hello All, I have a remote camera at my cabin in Tennessee, it is accessible through an app and is always on. The camera typically senses movement will snap 3 pictures and upload/email them to my gmail account. However gmail has changed access using 3rd party apps and I can no longer receive the pictures. I was told I can setup dropbox as an FTP server and my camera will upload to my dropbox, all videos and pictures. Is this possible? and if so, would anyone have a step by step to set this up? Thx for the helpSolved5.5KViews0likes4Comments"Can't load this file type. This file type is unsupported here" when previewing certain file types.
I am new to Dropbox. I started adding some files and when I clicked on a couple of the files it said "Can't load this file type. This file type is unsupported here." I tried with two different files. They are not typical files as they are from a design software and gcode. Is there a way to save these files in Dropbox and be able to access them? I also need to access them on multiple devices. Is this possible? Reading the features I thought this would work but I didn't know you wouldn't be able to open certain file types. Is there a way to set it up to open the file directly in the program I need to use it in? I am currently using the free plan. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thank you.Solved7.9KViews0likes4CommentsI downloaded my iCloud photos as a .zip file, and need to save the content to Dropbox.

Cheers, TinaSolved5.8KViews0likes4CommentsI copied my Dropbox content from an old device. Why do they get re-synced on the new device?
I just moved 80 Gbytes of Dropbox folders and files (not that much really) to my new computer. First I copied them to an external hard drive. Then I installed the Dropbox application on the new computer. Then I copied all of the files from the external hard drive to the Dropbox folder on my new computer. Six days later (yes, I have a slow but steady DSL Internet service), it's still uploading every one of those files. These files were already in the cloud and still on my old computer. All I can ask is, "WHY!?" These files had already been uploaded and indexed on my old computer and existed in the cloud. Why would my new computer have to re-upload them and not just re-index them? It makes me think that it would be quicker just to download the files from the cloud (download speed on most Internet services being quicker than upload speed). But this also seems unnecessary since I can copy those same files much faster using an external hard drive or even my LAN for that matter. This has happened to me before. It seemed ridiculous then and it still does. It makes me want to discard cloud storage altogether and stick with redundant computers for backup and external hard drives for access on other devices. So, anyway, can someone tell me how to avoid having to upload all the files all over again when moving or copying files from one computer to another?Solved8.6KViews0likes15CommentsWhy can't I upload files to my Dropbox account?
