1244 TopicsError 500 finishing huge file upload (300GiB+)
Hello, When a huge file (300GiB+) is uploaded using the upload_session API an "Error 500 Internal Server Error" is received when the last part is uploaded (/upload_session/append with close set). I retry the request but an Error 500 raises again and again. Sometimes, after more than 1 hour retrying the file uploads successfully. I am using session_type sequential. I’m very aware you don’t support HEIC file types and we are VERY surprised you don’t as ALL iPhones take pictures with that format now - by default. So, when we send someone a DropBoxSign document that requires them to take a picture of their ID and attach that to the document it rejects their image. Most people don’t have capability to change a photo they take on their phone from HEIC to PDF format. Most people don’t know how technically. So, my question is WHEN will you be adding the HEIC as a support file type to upload? Your system is outdated by not allowing this new file type to be used and forcing people to use PDF or older non efficient formats like .jpeg. When will you get up to date with your system? Using Windows 11. Started a trial account about a week ago as looking for a reliable cloud provider. Uploaded several large files 5-10gb through the website and it worked fine (in total have maybe 100gb of files uploaded of the 2tb with the premium trial subscription). Then I tried to load a file yesterday and after selecting the file there's a delay for the black status box to even appear in the bottom right of the screen and when it does it just sits there, stuck on the initial screen. Eventually it times out and the "Wait" or "Leave Page" box appears. Have tried this at least 10-15 times with Chrome. Have tried Firefox, Edge, etc. Same thing. I tried to chat with a human at least 10 times and every time it says it's transferring to an agent it just sits there and nothing happens (waiting as long as 30 minutes). Sent two emails through the appropriate Help sections and nobody responds. Device: Macbook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web): Sonoma 14.6.1 Syncing Status: paused indefinitely Question or Issue: I want to use Dropbox as a backup for folders, manually uploaded by me intermittently. I do not want it to be syncing with my computer. When I installed the app it began trying to sync with folders on the computer, which is not what I want. But when I tried to upload via the chrome browser it kept failing for large folders. (This is rather absurd. If the browser version can't handle it large folders then the app should be able to.) I just want to be able to back up (e.g.) my Documents folder or some subset of it, from time to time, with a date on it, as a static backup. I don't want to work from dropbox, I don't want it to be syncing constantly with my computer. How do I do this? I don't need "why are you doing this, why not just sync?" I don't want to. I am a freelance motion designer and have run into this issue way too often. I have my own Business account that I use for my freelance business, but whenever I need to be integrated into another agency's company ecosystem, Dropbox does not allow me to sign into their Business profile while staying logged into my own Business account for local working/syncing on the Desktop app. This can be incredibly frustrating if I am working on several projects at one time, which I often do. It would be so righteous if Dropbox allowed the use of signing into multiple Business accounts at one time in order to avoid the back and forth switching and to avoid needing to upload files through the web version to ensure backups are consistent/automatically synced on both accounts. Microsoft wont add Dropbox as a place I use dropbox on Desktop and Apple devices with a different account. It works fine with excel to save documents. For the last 6 months my android devices have worked great as well. However, recently, when trying to save an edited excel document that I’ve opened with dropbox on my android device, it does not give me the option to save the document to Dropbox folders once I’ve edited and click “save as”. After clicking “add a place” then Dropbox, and then signing in, it loads and takes me back to excel, yet it still doesn’t show up. No error message, just isn’t an option. Click add a place again, and can click dropbox as an option again, sign in, ect. It’s an endless loop. I have tried uninstalling both apps, disconnecting Microsoft and excel from the dropbox’s connected apps, other troubleshooting. nothing working so far. Device Lenovo, iPad pro Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11, Question or Issue Dropbox has become my favorite cloud storage. I love it. I love how easy it is to find files. But... no matter what I do, I have watched tons of videos, looked in discussion forums, etc.. I CANNOT SELECT MULTIPLE FILES. It is seriously slowing down my work. I have tried using my windows computer and my ipad, and I can't do it. If someone has any ideas, I am open. I have tried shift, command, Control... nothing works. I would like to suggest an option to customize the naming conventions for file uploads and downloads on Dropbox Replay. Currently, file uploads retain the name of the original file. Example: if I uploaded "coolvideo_v1" and added a new version named "coolvideo_v2," the Dropbox Replay file would retain the original "coolvideo_v1" name until I manually rename it. On the flip side, file downloads that have a version history add on the version number to the end of the downloaded file. Example: if I had named a file "coolvideo_v2a" but it was listed as version 3 in the version history, the downloaded file would be named "coolvideo_v2a_v3" on my computer. This confuses the communication between our photographers/videographers and our DAM managers. Could we add an option to edit the naming convention rules on Dropbox Replay? Custom naming conventions are already a part of Dropbox when it comes to File Request links. Let's get this added to Dropbox Replay!215Views4likes6Comments
