Questions about API and shared links
Hi,
I want to use dropbox to sell software thru WordPress/woocommerce.
My idea is to send an expiring link to customer (7 days) to download the software as soon as he successfully buy a product. I want to automatically create a new expiring link and send this link using an email.Of course the link should be different for different customers beside the fact that concerns the same upload.
Is that possible via drop box api ? If yes can you point me to the api command or sample code ?
George

Cant help you with the code, sorry, but just one word of warning before you go too far down the route.... make sure you investigate the bandwidth limits and that you won't exceed them.

Hi George - yes, there is a way to create expiring shared links to content on Dropbox. You'll use /create_shared_link_with_settings and set the expired field in the request. https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation#sharing-create_shared_link_with_settings However, I don't think these links are necessarily unique. Why is that a requirement, if the link expires?
And Mark is right, you should look into the bandwidth limits, if the software you're selling is sizable. Read more here: https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/4204
