Display problem

Some files in my dropbox have an x and the wording: it is not possible to read the document, it could be damaged.  Is it possible to solve this problem? can I still recover the files? These are files that I uploaded on dropbox but never shared.

Hey Elena78, sorry to hear about this.

Are you trying to open those files on our website or locally on your device(s) perhaps?

Can you please send us a screenshot of how this looks on your end so that we can have a visual too?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! In the meantime the icons have changed: they have become green clouds and ticks. I wanted to understand if there has been an update to Dropbox. I attach a photo of the new icons.

Hi Elena78! Is the x icon that you previously mentioned the one showing here

From your screenshot, it looks like your files are properly syncing now. Are you still seeing an error when trying to open them?

The green checkmarks that you see mean that your files are available offline (they’re taking up hard drive space from your computer and they can be opened, even if you don’t have an internet connection at some point), while the ones with the grey cloud icons are online-only (these can’t be accessed unless you’re connected to the internet).

For more info, please check the Help Center article I linked above.

    Hope that helps!
