I hadn't noticed the date window for the 'deleted files' was so narrow. I broadened the date search and saw that I had deleted some directories without knowing I was doing that.
Restoring those directories has done the job.

Hi Nancy. No forbidden characters. The name of one folder is ~/Dropbox/shared.
I have re-installed Dropbox over the existing version and the folders are still missing.
Perhaps I should purge the existing installation first? How do I do that?

2 years agoTo uninstall the Dropbox app completely, you can follow these steps.
To clarify though, you mentioned in the beginning the folder in question was under this directory â~/Dropbox/pepperâ. Is â~/Dropbox/sharedâ another directory that doesnât sync to your computer besides âpepperâ?
Let me know if Iâve misunderstood anything.
