I'm having multiple folders not showing up on various devices. It really is a bit of a mystery as to which ones are included and excluded. Devices are up to date and dropbox is synced. Folders are showing on http://www.dropbox.com/home but still not on the PC, Phone, iPad, etc.45Views0likes2CommentsMy PDF additions in preview mode (via the macOS desktop app) don't appear on the web.
I am running MacOS Tahoe 26.1 on a MacBook Pro For work, I often use the preview function in finder to type directly onto a PDF. I thought this was going fine -- the edits are saved and viewable in finder, even for people on other devices -- until I looked at the PDFs I've been editing on the web version of Dropbox. This is a problem in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. The PDFs, other than the information scanned in the photocopier, are blank. I have made sure to clear the dropbox cache, resinstall the dropbox app, restart my computer, verified that all my files are available offline and I have permission to edit them. Everything, according to the Dropbox app, is synced and up to date. What am I doing wrong?Solved81Views0likes4CommentsMacOS preview freezes when looking at a Dropbox file
Application Affected Initially DropBox but the freeze extends to any app wanting internet Device MacBook Pro M4MAX 36GB Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS 26.1 (Tahoe) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 236.4.5918 Question or Issue All of my files are in DropBox in the cloud/online. Previously (yesterday) when I clicked on them, they would download and then open in the associated app. If I chose Preview instead (spacebar on a Mac), the Preview window would open, the file would download, and it would be shown. In both instances, the file remained dowloaded until I made it Online-only later. Today, when I choose Preview, the preview window opens and a circular icon rotates. And rotates. Up to 2 minutes. Sometimes I see the file after 2 mins, sometimes I don't. The file icon switches from 'cloud with down arrow' to just 'cloud' but the file doesn't preview. The file also won't open, or be downloaded, or be uploaded. It's just frozen. Moreover, if I decide to try another file or folder after the first is hung, everything in Dropbox is none-responsive for a minute or two. Then they ALL open at once. Or not. If I try to use an app (say Activity Monitor) to see if something is holding DropBox up), the app freezes, as do all subsequent apps: "App cannot open." And then it will open 10 mins later. Happens with Word files, PDFs, Excel, etc. etc. I have a 2.5GB network but it happens on small files (32kb) and large. None of this happens on local files in non-DropBox folders or downloaded DropBox files. It is 'as if' something is putting a hold on things and then releasing or timing out when I ask for a file. I have reinstalled DB at least 3 times today and waited a helluva long time to sync, but it makes no difference. To be clear, for YEARS everything has been problem-free so this is both unusual and frustrating. Any help, guidance, commiseration would be welcome.Solved83Views0likes3CommentsI can't see my "syncing issues" or new updates when I check my Dropbox folder.
Device (Dell precision 3551) Operating System (Windows 11,) Dropbox App Version (232.4.5988) My dropbox says it has sync issues but when I select show me the issues it just shows me a blank window. Not sure if that is related, I think I have always had that but wanted to add just in case. I have been finding recently that my dropbox files and folders haven't been up to date, new files haven't been showing on my desktop file explorer although I have everything set to sync online only. If I go to dropbox.com, it also wont give me the option to view these files in file explorer like other folders (see images). Has anyone else experienced this or knows what it might be?122Views0likes8CommentsMy Dropbox folder is empty on the Mac, but I can see my files online.
macOS Tahoe (beta 9) I just noticed that my Dropbox folder on my Mac is empty! When I log in to Dropbox online, all my files are still there though. I tried moving a file into the Dropbox folder on my Mac, and it shows up both online and locally. In other words, all my old Dropbox content is missing in Finder. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’m on the Tahoe beta, and I’m not sure how long this issue has been around. Since I see the files that I move to the Dropbox folder I don't think it's related to macOS, but to something with Dropbox. Please help!Solved203Views0likes7CommentsCan't see online only folders on the desktop PC, after reinstalling the app.
One morning I woke up to a "disk full" error on my pc. For whatever reason, Dropbox had decided to download my entire Dropbox to my pc. I stopped the syncing and uninstalled Dropbox app. Restarted and re-installed the Dropbox app and selected only a few folders to store on my hard drive. Completed the setup, but now I only see the folders that I selected on my desktop app. Before Dropbox decided on it's own to download the entire folder, I was able to see online only folders (everything). Device (Mac Studio Ultra M2) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Sequoia 15.6.1) Dropbox App Version/Browser Version (232.4.5926 Question or Issue My team is dead in the water on this, would appreciate a prompt reply. There are many threads about opening a local-synced After Effects (AE) project, footage that is not synced (avail offline) will show as missing. (Unlike QT etc.) even though AE calls for the file, it doesn't automatically initiate a sync. I have always had this problem, and its awful, but My new problem in the last week is far worse: In the past I would open my AE, hunt down ALL the missing footage sync it, but DONT relink it, THEN re-open the AE file. Huge pain. But it worked. Now footage that was missing, but that I then synced, and re-opened is not being recognized 'file damaged or corrupt'. Even importing that clip to a new project. The ONLY ways to import is to rename it, or copy to a local drive. Then it imports fine. (except I have hundreds of footage files in different locations) I have not updated my AE, so I suspect it is a change with Dropbox. IMPORTANT: The problem seems to only be with footage that AE attempted to link to - but found it wasn't synced. I do not have this problem with a new clip, that was never in the project.72Views0likes1CommentWe can't open After Effects files unless we make them available offline on our MacOS device
Hi, We’ve been using Dropbox for our After Effects projects for many years. Previously, when we clicked on a .aep file, the project and all linked assets from different locations would automatically sync and open without any issues. However, for the past few weeks we’ve been experiencing a different behavior: we can’t open projects unless we first make the files “Available offline” Even after opening the .aep file, we have to manually locate each asset in the project and make it available offline one by one. Is this a bug, or has support for macOS Monterey changed in some way? This issue is severely disrupting our workflow. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Device iPad Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version/Browser Version N/A Question or Issue I cannot view any of my PC files on my iPad that I backed-up to Dropbox from my computer. How can I view files from my PC on my iPad? On the Dropbox app on my iPad it says that my computer is one of the devices, but there is no way to see my computer files on my iPad. I am getting frustrated and ready to sign up for iDrive again. I could access my PC files much more easily using iDrive than Dropbox. I'd appreciate any help with this issue.289Views0likes14Comments
