Hi I have seen a number of posts about DropBox changing file dates to "date modified" which appears to be the date the file was uploaded to DropBox. This is weird because if you are just uploading and downloading files from one computer to another you want the original date to be retained. The date of the uploading is mostly irrelevant. For searching based on date the file was created/last edited is what I need to maintain my records by date created/edited. This happens when I use the app of the web and add files to a DropBox folder the date it was added is saved as the modified date. It gets stranger because when I download to another computer I can restore the original file date if SmartSync is on and set to local but this worked for Excel files but not for PDFs! BTW I am using Windows 10 on both computers. I could not work out behaviour from previous posts. thanks for any help3.5KViews1like8CommentsI can't open my Microsoft files when they're set to online-only.
Hi All, I can't seem to open documents when they are saved on Dropbox. My files are set to online only. However, photos and other media does not have an issue. But office and pdf often encounter an issue where they don't open or the dialogue box just keeps loading. When I move files outside dropbox, they open just fine. Thank you for your help.35Views0likes3CommentsVideos are choppy when I upload or download from Dropbox
Hi all, When I upload videos I've taken on my phone to Dropbox, they're completely choppy when I play them back in my synced Windows folder. When I play them back on Dropbox web version they're okay, but when I download them from there, they're choppy again. They seem to be okay when I open them with Photos, but not Media Player. Regardless, if I then upload to Canva, they're choppy, and I need to be able to edit them specifically in Canva. I desperately need a solution. I've seen that other people have had this problem too but I can't see any solutions offered. I'm viewing them as MP4 files. Thanks, Jules640Views1like7CommentsFiles not automatically downloading when opened in image browser
I am not a fan of cloud storage. That said, I have Dropbox installed on all my computers with different sync settings based on hard drive space, etc. However, in this case I have a 4TB hard drive so space is not an issue. My sync settings are to treat files as Available Offline. Save hard drive space automatically is toggled off. I have a few folders with images for my online store in them. When opening the folder in my image browser (Faststone) I'm having to wait for Dropbox to download images before they can be viewed. I'm not sure where to look to fix this, but I want my files downloaded to the appropriate computers, based on sync settings when they are uploaded. My workflow is as follows: Take raw photos with my phone or camera. Upload them to a specific folder on Dropbox. Open that folder on my computer to view and edit images. Save/convert those images to a new folder on Dropbox. Any guidance is appreciated.28Views0likes1CommentHow can I stream videos on my PC with the Dropbox desktop app?

I am currently organizing my wedding. One of the ideas that I have is providing guests with a QR code that direct them to my dropbox. The intent is for them to take pictures on the big day and upload them to the file so that after the wedding I can transfer the pics to shutterfly to make a book. When I asked a friend to try the process she was able to get to the file and was able to look at the pics that I have in there. She however was not able to load any of her own into the account and got the notification " this folder is view only". Is there any way that I can change the settings so that everbody that access the QR code can upload pics?Solved9.1KViews0likes8CommentsThe desktop app appears up to date, but my file hasn't been downloaded.
Hi, hope someone can help me here. Im trying to download a file through desktop app and once its all synced, it says 'Sync Completed' but doesnt shows the file on my desktop folder. I tried restarting the app and pc both but nothing helps. I have a doubt here about disk space. So, let me clear it a bit- So, the file im syncing is 400gb and available space on disc is 700 gb There is more then enough space for sync but does it needs 400gb space more when it flushes the file over disk? I dont know may be im wrong but if anyone can guide, It ll be very helpfull. Thank you! - Maann48Views0likes1CommentDoes Dropbox support 5 Gbps sync (uploads and dowload) speeds?
I am a professor a University of Florida (UF). We have a business Dropbox account through UF (I cannot use this community with that account for some reasons, so I am writing from my private one). I work often from home. All my data and my students' data (Many GBs and TBs) is constantly synced with Dropbox. Fiber was just installed in my neighborhood, and I am debating between 1Gbps and 5Gbps speed. The latter is 50% more expensive, but I would pay for it if Dropbox is able to handle Gbps uploads and dowload speeds. If not, there is not really much of a point, 1 Gbps is more than enough for all the other things I do. Thank you Best A22Views0likes1Comment
