Using Dropbox for wedding
I am currently organizing my wedding. One of the ideas that I have is providing guests with a QR code that direct them to my dropbox. The intent is for them to take pictures on the big day and upload them to the file so that after the wedding I can transfer the pics to shutterfly to make a book. When I asked a friend to try the process she was able to get to the file and was able to look at the pics that I have in there. She however was not able to load any of her own into the account and got the notification " this folder is view only". Is there any way that I can change the settings so that everbody that access the QR code can upload pics?

Sounds like you used a shared link. The feature you're actually looking for is a File Request. Create one, get the link, and then generate your own QR code for it (plenty of third-party sites can do this for you).

You will need to use a Dropbox requests link at www.dropbox.com/requests HOWEVER people wont be able to see what is already there - its one or the other I'm afraid.
The shared link you gave out only allows viewing and for people to upload to it you'd need to know their name and email address for them to set up an account

When a file request is sent out, it presents as coming from the account holder's name. Is there a way to change this, e.g. have it show as coming from the Folder name or something else specified when setting up the request?

Hi Digital_Vibe, depending on your plan, you could use branding to customize your File Requests, would that be helpful for your requirements?

I'm not sure that would work as the Branding page allows me to try for free (I'm on Plus) but seems you have to upgrade to Professional for further use. Is there any other solution to this? I'm looking to create folder so that attendees of a talk I'm giving can scan a QR and then upload photos to that folder. I have everything tested and working but the one issue is that the file request shows my name but I need it to show the name of the event.

Your name will show up as long as you're the owner/creator of the file request, but you should be able to add the event's name as the title of your file requests. As for the QR code to link to the file request you opened from your end, you'd need to use a 3rd party app.
I hope this helps a tad Digital_Vibe
