Copy entire Dropbox files from one account to another
Hi there, I'm looking to copy my entire Dropbox library from one account I own into another. I need to have a backup of these files under another account. Is there an easy way to do this?

3 years agoThanks for that. The best option then would be to create a shared folder with no files in it, and then I can tell you the simplest method to get the files onto your large account.
Firstly, what error are you getting when creating a shared folder? Are you able to convert an existing folder into a shared folder instead?

Jay. Thanks for helping on this. The error I get is when I click share for a folder, the message says "This folder can only be shared with a link".

Hi jeminar1, from what I understand you are trying to share a folder that contains other shared folders.
Can you browse the content of the folder you are trying to share and see if there's any subfolder left there with the little two people icon on them?

Megan. That's it... you cannot follow the instructions at https://help.dropbox.com/organize/move-files-between-accounts because you cannot share a folder that is shared or contains shared folders.
May I suggest you write an engineering ticket that does two changes:
1. At the text that comes up that says "This folder can only be shared with a link" (or something similar), you add a help hyperlink that points out why.2. At the help link above you add in the words on the first step 2. "You can only share a folder that is not already shared. Remove sharing by (...)"
Thank you for fast response Megan, Jay. I never considered that the "Community" would be actually supported by people giving answers. You've increased my faith in dropbox as a solution.
