Delete duplicate User Folder in Windows after reinstall.
Hi there,
I had trouble with my dropbox a while back during sync and was advised to do a clean install. I thought i had cleaned everything up before i did it (everyting was gone from PC inc folders in explorer) but when I reinstalled a duplicate folder appeared as well as the new folders under my user. So i now have two folders Dropbox and Dropbox(1). I wasnt too bothered and ran with it like that but space is now getting tight and I dont like the danger of having two. I need to make sure all folders are not lost from the online side, as these are shared collaborative project folders. So i am super scared about deleating, the folder with the (1) is not syncing, so i am aware which is the one in 'use'. I was added to a new folder recently, and this does not appear in the OLD folder for access.
I spoke to support and they said best way is to move the Dropbox(1) folder to an external drive as backup, then deleate it from my local machine. The other folder should be unaffected. I tried to copy across files to my backup external drive, but i am getting prompted that at least some of the 740GB are online only files and cannot be accessed.
The two folder directories i am dealing with are:
C:\Users\#####\Dropbox (old)
C:\Users\#####\Dropbox
I renamed the folder to save confusion from (1) to (old)!
Are there any additional steps im missing here? Help 🙂

Hey P32, let's jump right into this!
What I would personally do, is to check the app's preferences, and then the Sync tab to make sure which path if my app syncing too.
Once you made sure of that, can you also check the app's syncing status, and see if it's up to date?
After that, double check the folder that isn't syncing, with the one syncing and make some transfer if you think that's necessary.
So, if there are some folders that haven't synced, feel free to copy and paste them inside your syncing Dropbox folder.
Can you give this one a go, and let me know more?
