Duplicated Files Cannot Be Renamed - Ventura 13.4.1
Hello,
Since upgrading to Ventura I have noticed several weird bugs with DropBox.
The most recent is that I can't rename a duplicated file. Pressing "Enter" gives the "error" chime. Right-clicking does not give the rename option (screenshot below). I can rename the file on dropbox.com and the change is reflected locally but this is time-consuming. This has happened for multiple files in different folders.

Hello Megan,
Have done as you suggest and currently re-indexing. The behavious still continues, but I'll let it finish and then re-start.

Morning.
OK. After a restart the behaviour is exactly the same.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for checking paulcartwright!
Does that happen with all of your files? Also, if you try uninstalling, and re-installing the app do you get the same results?

Hmm...odd behaviour. If I have a specific project folder open in its own window and duplicate a file, I can't rename the duplicate.
If I open the folder that contains all of my project folders and drop down to open the specific folder, the file duplicates and CAN then be renamed. If I then go back and open the specific project folder in its own window everything works again.
It's not fixed in any way, but certainly something odd going on. Will keep any eye on it. - Megan3 years ago

That is indeed odd paulcartwright!
In any case, you can always reach out to our Support and report this, or if you wish, we can open a ticket and have a closer look into this there.

Also have this exact same issue. If I copy the file to the desktop I'm able to rename it, but if I copy it back to dropbox I can not.

Hey picard102, welcome to our Community!
Would you mind clarifying the OS and Dropbox version that you're using on your end, please?
You should be able to check the version by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi on your menu bar.
Also, just to make sure we're on the same page here, have you tried any of the troubleshooting steps provided in this thread?
Let me know, and we'll take it from there!

If I duplicate a (.pptx) file in a folder inside Dropbox then Rename is greyed out even though I have Read&Write permission. If I copy to the desktop there is no problem and I can then copy the file back to the folder and there is no problem. Also, if I duplicate a file and try to move it to the desktop I get a no entry icon. So, some sort of permission problem to do with duplicating a file in a Dropbox folder.

Hi Laurence S.4! Do you mind sending us a screenshot of what you see on your end? More specifically, Iβd like to have a visual of the entry icon that you mention, and the βRenameβ option being greyed out.
Thanks!
