Device TCL NxtPaper 14 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Android 14 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 454.2.2 Syncing Status Up To Date Question or Issue I am using Dropbox on my TCL NxtPaper 14, along with the app Nutrient PDF Viewer Pro to edit and annotate PDFs on Dropbox. Whenever I use the app, it corrupts the PDF on Dropbox. Editing PDFs on other cloud services with the same app does not give me any issues.128Views0likes10CommentsCan I edit a text (*.txt) file in Chrome browser?
Hi there, I'm struggling to edit a TXT file in Chrome browser on Dropbox. I'm sure I've done it with a .docx file before. When I search for this feature, Google returns results asking for it back to 2012, but there's nothing recently, the feature requests such as this one have been closed, so I'm assuming I'm having an issue with my account. Especially since Dropbox is pushing Family plans, signature, and other feature way more complex and less universal as a simple TXT editor. I've been using link removed it has looked the same for years and works fine, but I find it extra weird that a giant company like Dropbox doesn't have a similar feature. How do you usually edit a TXT file in the browser? I only have a few lines to add/remove, when I'm on a machine without the Dropbox app/daemon installed, and don't want to leave any file traces on that machine. See my environment in Chrome on a Macbook air, as a Dropbox Plus paying client. On TXT files, I have an "Open in" Menu, but the arrow only opens a 2px high line. This is definitely not expected behavior, as if the submenu was empty, it should not appear with an arrow in the first place. What could I be I missing here?Solved12KViews1like22CommentsCan I automatically rename multiple files at once?
I've imported 100 files and would like to highlight them all and rename them all Ashland Vacation 1, Ashland Vacation 2, Ashland Vacation 3, etc. Is there a way to automatically do this? I don't want to click and rename 100 individual files. Thanks.Solved25KViews2likes5CommentsFile will only open in Excel Online
Hi! I work from home and share an excel file with other employees. We all make edits to the file and save it so others can see. Typically when I open files, I choose to open them on my desktop and not online. However, this file does not give me the option to open it on my desktop. When I click open, it immediately tries to open it through Excel Online. However, the file is too big, so Excel Online can't open it. So now I can't open the file at all. Please help me with this. Thanks!Solved16KViews0likes4CommentsIssues when I'm updating a zip file's contents using the desktop app. "System can't find path"
Ok - I have used dropbox for many years to store files that i share content with friends. I just had a request saying that some of the info in one of the zip files I have shared needs updating. I have done this before - but not for a few years - no problem just opened the zip file, edited the contents, then upon closing answering yes to do you want to update the zip file contents. But today, it just says "The system cannot find the path specified" I am using the Desktop App and it does say that it is synced and up to date. This is causing me a huge problem and significant time and effort for all my files, if I cannot simply edit a zip file on the fly. I have read that using the PC App avoids the download, edit, upload route - which is not an option, as hundreds of people have the link to this specific file address. So upset and tired - dropbox used to easily have this function - especially with the PC App and the files being visiable in a window when I use it. Incredibly frustrating to be told i cannot access my own files. Please advise.Solved5.3KViews0likes2CommentsLoss of reliable “Date Modified” behavior is destroying file discovery and productivity
I need to raise a serious productivity issue that has fundamentally broken how I work in Dropbox. For years, my workflow depended on being able to sort and find files reliably by Date Modified. This is not a “nice to have” feature, it is essential for meeting deadlines. I work across many active projects and frequently need to locate the most recently edited file quickly. Since Dropbox began forcing background indexing / “modifying” files, the Date Modified field has effectively become meaningless. Files that I have not touched are suddenly marked as modified, while files I actually worked on recently are buried or out of order. What used to take seconds now takes hours. This has had very real consequences: I can no longer trust sorting by Date Modified I waste huge amounts of time opening files just to verify which version is current My ability to meet deadlines has been severely impacted My productivity has dropped dramatically To be clear: This is not user error, not a learning curve issue, and not a preference change. This is a regression in core file-management behavior. If Dropbox needs to index files internally, that process should not overwrite or redefine the user-visible “Date Modified” metadata. That breaks established OS-level workflows and makes Dropbox actively hostile to professional use. At minimum, Dropbox needs to provide one of the following: A way to preserve true file modification dates A separate, clearly labeled field for “Last Indexed” or “Dropbox Activity” Or an option to disable indexing behaviors that rewrite modified timestamps Right now, Dropbox is making it harder, not easier, to find my own work. I am genuinely questioning whether I can continue using it for professional projects if this behavior remains. I would really appreciate a response from Dropbox staff acknowledging this issue and explaining whether a fix or workaround is planned.28Views0likes1CommentMac Finder asks for password each time I rename a file or move a folder in Dropbox
