How do I make a dropbox file editable

1.  I place a file I want my colleague to be able to edit in my Dropbox account.

2. What specific steps must I take on the Dropbox site so that my colleague will be able to edit that document?

Many thanks for any help!

Hi udaniels, thanks for contacting us!

The easiest method would be to do the following on your Dropbox account:

    • Create a shared folder with edit permissions
    • Share the folder to that user
    • Move the file into that folder

Once the user joins the shared folder, the folder itself will appear on their account, and download to their computer if they have the desktop app installed. The file would also appear, and can then be edited by whatever app the file uses.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
