I only seem to have read-only rights to my files on the Win11 Dropbox app
This has been mentioned before, but none of the "solutions" provided are working for me. I'm running Windows 11, and have installed the Dropbox Desktop app, both from the app store and the offline i...

2 years agoThanks for the screenshots! If you click on the small arrow instead that appears in your system tray, can you see the Dropbox icon then?
Also, the files that you’re unable to edit, are they shared with any other Dropbox users, by any chance, or are they personal files?

No, there is no Dropbox icon if I expand the arrow on my system tray. As far as I can tell, there is no way to access anything that provides any kind of settings for dropbox other than right clicking on the Dropbox folder, which has very limited options.
The files are shared with me, they are not my original files.

Hey MrsBearshark, would you be able to uninstall, and then re-install the app and give me a heads up once that's done?
- MrsBearshark2 years agoExplorer | Level 3I already did that several times. As mentioned in my original post. I uninstalled and reinstalled, including reinstalling from the offline installer as suggested in another thread. No change any of the times I reinstalled.

Hey MrsBearshark, hi from me as well.
Megan suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the app, as this should help bring back the Dropbox icon the system tray that you're currently missing.
If the Dropbox icon is missing, that's an indication that the app isn't working correctly.
So, can you check if the Dropbox icon comes back after you uninstall Dropbox, restart your computer and then reinstall it?
If it does come back, please hover over it with your mouse and let us know what you see.

The icon does not come back to matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall.

Hmm, thanks, MrsBearshark.
In that case, please try a more advanced reinstall of the app and let me know how it goes.
