I'm trying to stop an external backup, how to do this?

Hello!   Trying to stop an external drive backup.  The only directions I can find are vague and are for STARTING a back not stopping one.     Also those directions don't make any sense.  Here...

    That is the menu option which appears on your computer if you have Dropbox installed and running - as that is the only way of doing backup (as it works on the software on your machine)

You can't stop it son, EVERYTHING backs up.
