Missing folders and Paper docs after migration
For many years I have used Dropbox paper.
Made hundreds of folders and papers.
Now I have only 10 or so in my migrated section.
First of all I had no idea something was about to happen.
Maybe I missed mails?
I have used paper recently without an issue or a notice that I should do something really quick!
Now I have no Idea where to find my files.
I have a folder 'Gemigreerde paper documenten' (Dutch) and there is not even 1% of my files.
We are working in a team and maybe a college did the migration and I can't see them now?
I find this update very disturbing!
So dropbox, how can I get them back?
Where are they?
Thanks!

Hello, I'm also impacted by this today. I just tried to access my docs on paper, and none of them are available on the site (paper.dropbox.com) or the Android app. I'm seeing them in a Migrated Paper Docs folder in the Dropbox account. I don't want to have to open dropbox just to edit a document. How do I get my documents back in Paper.dropbox.com. I didn't initiate any migration.

Hey Lmstreng, let me ask one more thing.
If you create a new Paper document, does it automatically show up in the Paper section online and on the mobile app?
Can you then export your new document?

I feel you...every few years someone breaks my heart like this :)
first it was evernote, not paper which served me well for many years. I have the same experience. I can't use the app any more, and it doesn't seem like a bug or something.
I didn't understand if this was intentional.
anyway, I just want to be able to export all my notes and eventually I had to write a python script to do it.
so I did, as far as I could tell I can only do it in markdown/html format which I later imported into notion.
if you want I can share it with you and if running python script is not your thing I can try to put together clear instructions to do with with cloud tools which anyway can access for free (namely google cobal) - Lmstreng11 months agoNew member | Level 1
I didn't do anything, you all did this with no warning, emails, nothing! This is the most frustrating experience ever so now I just want to be able to export all my documents as Microsoft Word.
The steps you provided did not help. I'm not seeing any "Download docs you created" or any export/download options from Dropbox or Dropbox Paper.
This is all on Safari, Mac OS (latest version). My iPhone Paper app also shows none of my previous folders/documents unless they are starred.

Hey Lmstreng!
It sounds like you migrated to the updated version of Paper. Now your Paper docs are in your Dropbox folder. Paper docs and Dropbox files will be accessible in the same place alongside all your other Dropbox content.
Which platform do you use when trying to edit your Paper files and what is your OS?
Also if you use these steps, do you notice the same behavior?
- Open Dropbox Paper. If already open, go to the activity stream by clicking the back arrow in the top-left corner.
- Click your avatar (if you have not set an avatar, your initials are displayed).
- Click Download docs you created.
- Choose the filetype for your download.
- Click Download.

I have the same issue. since few days ago, I guess you migrated my paper to something.
now in the android app I see only 10 docs, but I can still search for the rest. I just have no way of getting to them or knowing they're there other than searching
going to dropbox in web, I see the docs under all files, migrated docs. what now? how can I see them in paper? are you deprecating paper or something?Oh, and new docs show in "Paper docs". it's a mess.
Thanks for your help.

This is my Dropbox where I'm able to see the "Migrated" folder with all my folders and all of my Dropbox Paper documents (I have a lot of documents in folders)
This is the new Dropbox Paper where I am only able to see my documents if I star them in Dropbox. No folders load, no other documents, nothing else appears here.
And then when I open a document and try to export, it just sits on the "Preparing files..." window

Hey Lmstreng, sorry for jumping in here.
Just to have a visual of what you see exactly on your end, can you upload a few screenshots here? We’ll check them for you and guide you from there.

Yes, I can see them in Dropbox but now I'm unable to:
- I'm not seeing them when I go to the "new" Dropbox Paper unless I star them. And even then none of my folders are there.
- Export all my papers to Word Documents all at once
- I can't even seem to export an individual Paper to a Word Document as it just sits on the "Preparing files for export..." window

Sorry to hear that, Lmstreng.
Just to confirm, if you go to the "All files" page in your Dropbox account and then open the "Migrated Paper docs" folder, are you able to see your Paper docs there?
