Restore lost folders and contents after unsuccessful transfer.

Yesterday, as I was approaching my data limit, I transferred some large folders (around 3GB in total) to a hard disk, but after transferring discovered that the hard disk was damaged and that the transfer was not successful. I need to recover the folders but they are not listed in the 'deleted' section on my dropbox account. Can anyone help me recover the data?

  • Hey Elizaphanian sorry to hear about that, let's see what we can find!

You mentioned that you transferred some large folders. Would you be able to walk me through the steps that you followed?

Did you use our desktop app to move content from the Dropbox folder to your hard disk? Feel free to clarify, or correct me if I'm wrong.

Would you also be able to check your accounts events page, and let me know what you find there? Have you also checked your device's recycle bin to see if any content is visible there?

    Keep me posted!

Aha - that events page is very useful, and might solve things. I didn't use the desktop app, I used the windows file folder on my pc - essentially cutting and pasting. Back in a sec
