The Badge shows a file was edited 420 years ago
Is anyone else having issues with Badge, randomly showing "<user> last edited this file 420 years ago".
it seems to affect both mac and windows users and appears to be random- in that we can't link it to a prticular folder/file or user.
Dropbox said they were investigating but have not come back with any explanation.
cheers
Marty
I know this issue sucks big time, and I hate being the bearer of bad news...but

The timing and exact functionality of these features may change, and Dropbox doesn't provide warranties on the performance of these features.

- owladmin4 years agoHelpful | Level 6I believe you have my account information, we're all using Windows computers and the latest Dropbox versions. Nobody's changing edit dates to 1601. The file save dates are accurate and fine, it's the badge and the edited dates that populate in Dropbox, not Windows.

So I am guessing there is still no acknowledgement from Dropbox about this issue or a fix??
and they are ramping up the per seat fee for the licences.
seriously @Dropbox ?

I think I know why this happens (at least for me). If I double-click on an Excel file that hasn't been synced locally yet, it will show the 421 years ago message. But if I first set Smart Sync > Local then it works and shows the correct number of years. So Dropbox must be using the date from the placeholder when it's double-clicked which isn't a real file until its synced.

I had the same problem and offer a possible solution.
On Windows 10 when I right clicked there was no checkmark for Local or Online Only in the SmartSync menu for the file that was edited over 400 years ago. Nor was there a checkmark for the Folder the document resided in.
Solution: I selected Local for both the folder and the document and now the Dropbox Badge reports the correct version history.

That is COMPLETE AND TOTAL BS!!
and yes, I meant to yell at you;-)
In our shop we are running 3 dif versions of Windows & 3 of macOS.
Dropbox App fully updated on all machines and we still get "edited 421 years ago" on some files.
it's the same wrong edit date on a few files across ALL users and all computers.
One of the main reasons we use dropbox is because of the file version mgmt and the badge showing who and when a user edited a file.
That functionality is critical to our business ........all day long, every day.
If y'all cannot resolve this (clearly dropbox) error then I will have to seek another vendor's solution.
Which, I don't want to do as I like dropbox ............except for this unresolved bug.
