Dropbox Badge no longer showing edit history
Hey everyone,
I recently noticed that the Dropbox Badge no longer displays who last edited a document. Instead, it mainly shows who is currently viewing the file. This was a useful feature for tracking changes without opening file history, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to bring it back.
Does anyone know if this functionality is gone for good, or if there’s a workaround to restore the edit info in the badge? Any insights would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi there, Parboiled_Paddy, thanks for joining us on the Dropbox Community!
Do you perhaps remember when you first noticed this?
If you click the Dropbox Badge and then the "version history" option, do you see the info you need?
Keep me posted.

Hey Hannah,
I first noticed it last Saturday. I was on vacation for a week and when I returned I saw that Dropbox have overhauled the badge in MS Office. It no longer has its round shape, instead it is rectangular and it only shows if someone else is also viewing the file or not. The Preferences section also has no options or settings to bring back the last edited info.
When I click on the badge, it only says "When people join, we'll let you know", and with a smaller font size: "Look here for updates about this file".
The last edit info was super useful for my team, but I now have to see it through the version history in the context menu.
Also, I see no "version history" option when I click on the badge.
Thanks

I've got the same problem, and has it already been stated, it's a pity not having the last edit any longer.

Hey Rockinluka - sorry to jump in, but before we switch to email, can you please clarify your computer's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your system tray/menu bar?
Apart from that, did you try turning the Dropbox Badge off and back on again?

Hello Walter, I tried turn the Dropbox Badge off an back on many times without success. The OS is MacOS Sequoia 15.4 (24E248), and for the Dropbox app version I've got installed the following: app version 223.3.4757 which tells me is up to date.
