Want to Delete Dropbox files without deleting the actual files.

I’m using the free Dropbox. I’d like to sever my Dropbox account and delete all of the files stored there without deleting those same files on my desktop. How do I go about doing that? I’ve received ...

Hi Foxfiresue, let's jump right into this! 

 

Just to make sure we're on the same page here: do you use the desktop app on your computer?

 

When you say you want to delete files from the account, without deleting them from your desktop do you mean from the device generally, or specifically from within your Dropbox folder? 

 

If you're using the app, and you've had content stored in your device, outside of your Dropbox folder, then deleting the files off of your Dropbox account, wouldn't affect them.

 

However, since the changes sync with your Dropbox folder locally -provided you're using the app- then the content would be removed from there too.
