Will my files be deleted if I cancel my renewal?
I received a cancellation notice today. I renewed an annual subscription today. How can I prevent my files being deleted?
Files aren't deleted due to a cancelled subscription. You would simply not be able to sync anymore if you're over your file quota. Your files are still accessible through the Dropbox website. In such cases, resubscribing will re-enable syncing.

If I delete enough files so that I am within my quota and I cancel a subscription are files still accessible and will they sync as long as I am not over my quota?

Hi mcopehart, that’s correct, if you delete enough files to be below the Basic quota of 2 GB (plus any extra unpaid quota you earned), and cancel your plan, your account will still sync normally.
