Can’t share file Sharing is restricted

I have 2 folders with 3 small json files in each. In folder 1 I was able to create View only links. In folder 2 I was able to create View only links on 1 file but not on the other 2. The contents of all 3 files is identical. I've checked the community and google and I'm doing everything as suggested. Can anyone guide me on what it going on?

Ok I went back and tried recreating the folder (created a new one) and added the same 3 files. Again, I was only able to share 1 of the 3 files. I got the same error message when trying to share the other 2.

I then deleted the 2 files from my local PC and created brand new Json files and copied the contents of the 1st file and uploaded them to the same folder as before.

That worked! Not sure why. Has to be something about the files although I created them the same way as the first. Who knows. Anyway, thanks for everyone's help.

Hi devildog67, thanks for getting in touch. Did you create both folders or is one owned by someone else? The files are identical, but the folders may be set up differently. Is there anything else that you can see that is different here? Once we know more we can try to get this sorted for you!

    Thanks,

    Amy

    Hi Amy,

I created both folders and as far as I can tell, I did it the same way. What's weird is that I can share one of the 3 files in the folder but not the other two. I've also recreated both of the files that I cannot share, but again I couldn't share them either. Is there a limit to the number of files I can share on the free account?

    Thanks

    Pablo

Hey devildog67, can you let us know more about why you can't share them?

Are you getting some kind of error message?

    Hi Hannah,

The error message I receive it this:

That's the only explanation I get. I've checked out the Learn more link and I don't see anything I'm doing wrong.

The files do not have any copyright issues as I created the files and they're just JSON files and are in fact empty.
Not to mention that I was able to share 1 of the 3 files just fine but not the other 2.

I'm going to recreate the folder and see if that helps.

    Thanks
