How can I manually sync files instead of the desktop app doing it automatically?
Hello I want to set up Dropbox so it syncs what I specifically tell it to. I dont want it automatically retrieving files off my computer and putting them online. I only want to drag and drop individual files from my desktop into drop box local folder and synced to the cloud. How do I do this?

Hi rulepuco, thanks for joining the Community!
The Dropbox desktop application works by automatically syncing any files that are in the Dropbox folder. It isn’t possible to manually force it to sync files.
If you move a file into the Dropbox folder, the app would then begin to sync it to the site.
If you don’t want to sync a file at that moment, you could pause syncing, or simply quit the app until you’re ready to sync and launch it again.
If I’m misunderstanding anything, please let me know!

I have a related issue in that I have an encrypted drive container file in DropBox and even thought the contents may change, Dropbox does not see a change to the container file and therefore does not sync.
This would easily be fixed if a sync could be forced to a schedule.
Any suggestions?
